The funny thing about this game is that i believe it is an amazing game, but i dont enjoy the experience. This is the remake of the original Resident Evil, onto the gamecube. It features enhanced graphics and a few new rooms compared to the original. The basic story is the same (stuck in a mansion surrounded by zombies and lots of puzzles). The thing that amazed me about it was the graphics. They used prerendered rooms to walk around with fixed cameras. This meant that the graphics could be CG video standards. I remembered when i walked into one room and stopped. I thought that i was watching a video. The puzzles are amazingly ... Read the complete review

A successor to the old Alone In the Dark games, the original Resident Evil on playstation and PC is a hugely iconic third-person survival horror in which you find yourself running around a creepy gothic mansion infested with zombies, solving puzzles, carefully conserving your limited ammo and er, eating pot plants in order to stay alive (okay, so technically they're herbs). The Gamecube remake is very faithful to the original, with a very similar atmosphere and art direction, full of creepy rooms and ominous, creaking starcases, whilst shambling zombies and rabid, undead dogs lurk around every corner. The zombies are brilliantly done, looking and sounding ... Read the complete review

This is a Gamecube remake of the original Resident Evil Playstation game that defined the survival horror genre. Even if you've completed the original there's enough new content to keep you interested. The story is the same in the original - in the late 1990s a special police squad is investigating the disappearance of another special police squad. During the search they are ambushed by malevolent forces and forced to take refuge in what seems to be an abandoned mansion. As the sinister plot unfurls it transpires that the mansion was the source of a terrifying viral outbreak that turns people into zombies - and worse. Graphically the game is still ... This is without a doubt the greatest game I've ever played. A REmake of the PlayStation one original the graphics are spectacular. The pre rendered backgrounds are at near photo quality and the shadows Jill Valentine casts across the objects will leave you wandering backwards and forwards admiring the way it bends. Then you realise a Crimson heads just run in. Your rear end bites down hard and you bolt, for this isn't the shooty shooty laughy laughy, look at everyone in the airport dying under my hell fire kind of a game. This game you have to think. Do I have enough bullets? When we'll I need this item? Shall I carry this with me, I only have 6 places to place items. ... Read the complete review

The original Resident Evil was released on the PS1 and essentially popularised the survival horror genre of video game, where the player had little ammo, and had to survive within a confined area against a seemingly relentless horde of repulsive monsters. It remains an all-time classic, and in 2002, Capcom decided to give it a lush, glorious remake on the GameCube. As far as the few videogame remakes that there are go, this is the best and most memorable for sure. The first thing to notice is the graphics, which are frankly astounding and were probably at the time the best I had ever seen in a game. They still hold up well today against the current generation, ... Read the complete review
