Advantages: Amazing graphics, suspenseful environments, and an involving storyline.
Disadvantages: The controls can be hard to get used to.
First of all, this is pretty much just a jazzed-up remake of the original on the PSOne, but then there is far more to it than that.
GRAPHICS:
Despite being a Nintendo Gamecube port, the graphics stand up pretty well and look as good as many games on the Wii. The characters look as realistic as they could, the pre-rendered backgrounds are easy on the eye and the zombies, aswell as the other inhabitants of the mansion, are more than up to scratch.
STORY:
As you might have guessed, the story is very similiar to the orginal but with more cut scenes. I would say that this is to make things a bit different to the original but it is a good as ever. The story revolves around Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton and Albert Wesker who are all members of the infamous Alpha team.
The story is different depending on which character you choose. You can pick between Jill or Chris and each have different abilities. If you choose Jill, Chris will be the Alpha team member who is missing when you arrive in the mansion, however with Chris as your character, Barry will be the member who is missing. The main difference will be the characters you encounter during the game with Jill and Chris. For example, with Chris you will have a fair few encounters with Rebecca Chambers - a member of the scattered Bravo team - while with Jill you encounter fellow Alpha team member Barry as the game goes on.
GAMEPLAY:
I'm going to keep this short; alot of people will find the controls hard because of the camera angles and the lack of agility in your character. I did not have a problem with it, but others may struggle primarily but everyone should get used to the controls as you go. The shooting aspects of the game are largely holding the right shoulder button and hitting the A button which might annoy a few people.
The difficulty will vary with each character. I enjoyed the puzzles immensely and I'm sure most people will too but then I think this depends on personal preference. I like puzzles, but people who don't will probably become frustrated.
LIFESPAN:
This game should keep people going for a while, considering that the game is kind-of like a two-in-one considering the differences between the two playable characters' storylines.
FINAL VERDICT:
Overall, this game was worth Capcom's time and investment because it resulted in a great storyline, a fantasic eerie atmosphere and some stunning graphics This is an absolute must-buy for any Resident Evil fan.
Summary: A must-buy for all Resident Evil fans. Doesn't seem like a remake.
