"...and then I said to my mate, 'yeah, this new game I got, I have to roll my monkey who sits in a large glass ball around these huge different neon-coloured levels making sure he doesn't fall off the side and it's really fun', and he just looked at me really weirdly. I don't know why or anything...." A true conversation I had, (okay, maybe not), but you can understand where I'm coming from of course. Tell somebody about this game and they're likely to admit you hastily to the men in white coats before you can say "but it's for real....". The main game of Super Monkey Ball features your choice of one of ... Read the complete review

The only reason to play this game is for the mini-games inside. The main game is tedious, frustrating and repetitive. You have to tip the monkey (who's in a ball, hence the title) down slopes and chutes without going off the edge. When you've completed one maze/route/slope you move onto another. And another. It's pretty dull. Having said that, the "party games" are great fun! Unfortunately you have to unlock them by getting a certain amount of points in the main game but this can be avoided to some degree by accumulating enough points to unlock one party game, saving, and then killing it without saving after you've enjoyed your party games, so that ... Though this game contains one of my favourite mini games for the gamecube, I would not recommend buying this game nor would I say that it is a very good game. Essentially the game centres around doing things with a monkey inside a ball. If in single player this involves rolling the ball around a maze, collecting bananas as you go. If in multiplayer it involves competing in mini games with your 'monkeyball'. The good mini game I referred to is called Monkey Target. In this mini game you start off by rolling your monkey ball down a ramp to gain speed, you then open up the ball to form gliding wings. The objective is then to land on targets to score points. ... Simple. Addictive. Fun. 3 Words that sum up Super Monkey Ball on the GameCube. It may not be the prettiest game on the block, but it's one of the best games I?ve ever played. Essentially there are 2 parts to Monkey Ball, the Main Game and the Party Games. The Main Game consists of almost 100 levels split into 3 categories, Beginner, Advanced and Expert. The aim of the game is to guide your monkey through a maze to the finish line within the time limit. It sounds simple, but it certainly isn't. There are many tracks to master and once you've done those there are hidden tracks to unlock. The gradual play of the Main Games contributes to ... Read the complete review

Who would have though that a twist on the hamster in the plastic ball would have made a hit game? Well, not me you hear the name Super Monkey Ball and you almost fall on the floor in laughter its a monkey in a ball you say a monkey. You remember the old plastic cubes with all the little holes cut out and all the balls you had to try and get in the holes or Scribble scrabble this is like the video game version. It is like Atari's old arcade game Marble Madness just the same give or take but with a monkey not a marble. Using the analogue stick to control the ball and that is it how hard can that be well let me tell you it is very hard as ... Read the complete review
