Westland Resolva 24H Weedkiller
by pammyj Westland Resolva 24H is a weed killer that actually works. I tried to keep up with the weeds in my garden but to be honest is a never ending losing battle! I hate hate hate them and if you don't keep on top of them they then take over the garden. Taking a whole afternoon pulling and digging out weeds has its own rewards when ... the garden looks good again but then a week later when you see more and more have returned just makes me want to cry! I decided enough was enough and I couldn't keep carrying on weeding dishearteningly. So I took action and decided to purchase a weed killer. Obviously I wanted to purchase a weed killer that was going to kill the weed and the root otherwise it would be pointless. I knew to get a decent one it was going to cost but I wanted to get something that was going to work and not a cheaper one that was a gamble and would end up you buying another brand anyway hence defeating the object. I also wanted a weed killer that I didn't have to decant into another sprayer. I always found this annoying as I was always concerned that another member of the family would use the sprayer then for something else. I know that putting a label on would help but sometimes a 16 year old lad doesn't tend to read instructions and labels. So my criteria was - ready to use, kills roots and works fast (and actually WORKS would be good) On comparing weed killers on the shelf in my local supermarket I remembered seeing an advert for Resolva 24 hour (you know the one, the one with the annoying dandelion that kept popping up in the pathway shouting hello mate!) and as it claimed to work so quickly I decided to give it a try. I purchased a 1 litre spray bottle for £3.99 which I thought was a good price that didn't really break the bank if it didn't work. The nozzle is similar to other spray cleaners where they have a stream, spray and off option on the end of the nozzle. Good for leaving it on the off position so that it cannot be sprayed by accident. Also the stream is good for precise spray action in case you are near other plants. On reading the instructions and a bit of common sense, all animals need to be indoors, it doesn't need to be raining or windy for obvious reasons. Turn the spray to your selected choice. The bottle under the spray nozzle is made to fit the palm of your closed hand so it is quite comfortable to use for an hour or so at a time. Although this may be a pain for people that suffer with arthritis or pains in the hand with continuous stress action. So did it do what it claims to do? Well actually it claims that the weeds will be completely dead up to 28 days but that it starts to work in 24 hours. On checking with excitement the next day to see if they were all disappeared there was a slight degree of something happening. It did take a few days for them to be almost dead but still impressive. A few days later and I just keep looking at the patio area that had been overridden with huge weeds and it looks 110% better with no back breaking hard work. I usually am very frugal with my money and hate spending where I don't need to but for this I am making an exception and I will definitely be buying this again next year. It has saved my time and my mind from going crazy about those annoying weeds. Read the complete review |

Westland Resolva 24H Weedkiller
by freud I'm sure that we must have more than our fair share of blooming weeds in our drive & patio area, I just wish our plants & flowers grew so well in the garden... Two years ago hubby paid 4 guys around £500 to deep clean the paving front & back of our house with a 'special formula' that would stop weed growth ... indefinitely - don't be fooled as we were - although the drive & patio are looked superb for a month or so, it wasn't long before the wretched weeds starting growing again with a vengeance. Hubby is still mad about forking out so much money so I've decided to tackle the b****s myself! I used Weedol last year with great results but the problem was that it came in powder form & had to be diluted with water & used with a watering can which involved many trips in & out of the house trying to stop our cat & dog following me ouside. This year we found Resolva in the garden centre which works with a spay gun trigger & can be used straight from the container - all you need to do it shake well, turn the nozzle & get spraying. We paid £19.99 for a sturdy container which contains 5 litres which may seem expensive but far cheaper than paying for a product which either doesn't work or needs re-applying. On the label Resolva state that the liquid provides 'effective control of annual & deep-rooted perennial garden weeds including grasses, docks, dandelion, nettles, bindweed etc. Theres enough in the sturdy plastic bottle to tackle 200m2. It states you should use this on a 'calm day' - I presume this means the weather but it helps if you're in a good mood lol. Keeping the pets away until the liquid dried (as advised) & being careful not to breathe in the mixture I set to work & I must say that this stuff really works. It says that there are visible results within 24 hours & I found that many of the weeds turned brown & started to dry up within this time & a couple of days later I can assure you they were well & truly dead. It does state though that (obviously I guess) rainfall within 6 hours can reduce the effectiveness so perhaps it's worth consulting our great British Weather Forecast Dept (ha!) There's plenty of information on the back of the container including safety precautions, storage instructions, directions for use plus a useful website www.resolva-weeds.com. It's advised that you dispose of the empty container 'responsibly' & the contents are biodegradable. It contains diquat & glyphosphate in an aqueous solution for those that know their chemicals yet it smells of a good quality washing-up liquid. There's no need to use gloves, just wash your hands after use so really the whole process, in my opinion, couldn't be easier. I found the best way to tackle our weedy path, drive & patio area was to do it in stages - mainly because I have small hands & found the repetitive squeezing a little too much at times. It's easy enough to see where you've been & can soon take up the trail though & it gives me a sense of satisfaction zapping the wretched things - I have to admit it's a great stress-buster! For the above reasons I'm awarding this product 5 well-deserved stars for the following reasons - - no need to dilute. - clear instructions & safety precautions. - not messy or fiddly. - doesn't clog. - couldn't be simpler. - it WORKS! Westland Resolva 24H Weedkiller
by Ninno I sem to have miles of paving with weeds growing throughout - despite the fact that the paving is laid on a weedmat which is then layered with sand - I guess the birds have dropped their seeds etc. In fact the weeds got so bad that I actually considered lifting the slabs and starting again. That is - until I tried ... "resolva". I have tried many a weedkiller but this is, by far, the most effective one that I have found. I used the 1 litre version (£4.99) and this allowed me to squirt directly onto the weeds - as per directions. Although a tad back breaking - not to mention the good hand work out! - the results really could be seen in twenty four hours, as advertised. Being weedkiller, the usual protection advise is given - keep away from skin contact, do not breathe in etc but I was pleased to see that you just had to keep pets away from the area until the spray had dried - this didn't take too long in the summer. Within a week the weeds had completley dissappeared - as if they have never been there. Six months on and the slabs are still clear from weeds - although it is still January! If they reappear then I am off out to buy some more - I have been converted! Read the complete review |
