... I've found this spray the most effective natural control of black fly I've tried - I've found blackfly has been rife this year and tends to congregate on the fresh new shoots of plants. I find it best to cut off shoots which are so covered you can see nothing but a mass of aphids and then spray the rest of the plant. Levington's 'Natures Answer to Insect Pests' is a natural insecticide to treat common garden aphid pests such as blackfly and greenfly. The spray contains an extract from the chrysanthemum family called 'pyrethrins'. Its odour isn't too unpleasant. It is suitable for use both indoors and outdoor flowers, fruit and vegetables. If used on edible crops they can be harvested the next day which is a bonus though it is best to avoid spraying crops in open flower.
