Advantages: Easy to use and provides superb results

Disadvantages: None for me

Ever since I was a child I have enjoyed the pleasure of fresh home grown tomatoes thanks to my green-fingered Dad, but this year I decided I wanted to grow my own as I longed to pick them myself. Consequently, earlier this year I purchased a greenhouse from Argos and carefully planted out the tiny seeds for both my beef and cherry tomatoes.

My Dad gave me a 1 litre bottle of Levington Tomorite, which is a Liquid Tomato Fertiliser and he informed me that I needed to feed it to the tomatoes as soon as the first truss appeared, as my seeds were under glass. The feed is perfect for your crops as it contains both energy and nutrients to assist with their growth and to provide you with a delicious supply.

The tomato feed is contained within a bright red rigid plastic bottle and on the label is a photograph of dozens of luscious fresh tomatoes, which differs somewhat from the picture shown above. We are informed that this product contains seaweed extract and in using we will produce top quality, full flavoured tomatoes. As my Dad has successfully grown his own vegetables for as long as I can remember I had every confidence that the product would be both efficient and effective.

On the rear label we are advised that the liquid also contains magnesium and is suited for other crops, such as sweet peppers and aubergines. There are various directions for use dependent on whether your crops are under glass, outdoors or in a growing bag.

To use the product, you simply need to dilute 20ml of the watery consistency brown liquid in 4.5 litres of water and apply to your plants as if generally watering, but care must be taken not to apply to the foliage.

The liquid is easy to dispense where you need to remove the opaque plastic measuring cup, which loosely sits upturned on the top of the bottle and unscrew the red lid, which has a childproof lock and is the same style as you would find on a bottle of Domestos. The measurements are cleared indicated in millilitres on the one side and A - F on the other. However, I have no idea whatsoever what the A - F measurements depict, as there is no reference to them on the label. As my plants were under glass I needed to feed my crop with this diluted feed every alternative watering.

I have only just noticed that on the rear of the bottle we are advised that this liquid feed must be stored out of direct sunlight and in a cool place, yet hubby had this placed in the front of our greenhouse for the entire summer! However, I have to say that the crops of tomatoes we enjoyed were both delicious and plentiful. Whilst I am unable to make a comparison with a crop that did not receive this feed and I have no intention of growing tomatoes without it, my Dad's recommendation is enough for me to decide that this is a fantastic product, particularly as he will not unnecessary spend money and has sworn by this product for years.

There are two declarations on the rear of the bottle; one of which is headed "UK Fertiliser Declaration" and the other "ROI Fertiliser Declaration", which provide us with percentages of this product's contents. To give you a rough idea of its' contents I would advise that it contains both nitrogen and phosphorous.

A one-litre bottle of liquid tomato fertiliser should last you a good while, as it will make up 225 litres of plant food. Levington Tomorite is available in three sizes, namely a 500ml bottle, 1 litre bottle and 2½ litre bottle. I've checked out the price for the 1 litre bottle and would advise that Amazon are currently selling it for £2.29 plus £4.49 P+P, so clearly it is best to purchase this in a garden ware store. In my opinion, this is very economical, particularly as half a bottle provided us with over 30lbs of gorgeous tomatoes, so I have a good amount left for next year.

There is a website advertised on the rear of the bottle named lovethegarden.com and I have quickly checked it out. It contains a lot of useful information where you will find plenty of hints and tips on gardening, so I think I will be spending a little time researching different vegetable growing in readiness for next year.

As this is such an effective product and is continuing to provide us with many delicious tasting tomatoes it receives 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me.

I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.

Summary: A great product to provide you with delicious tasting results
