Nippon Ant Killer Powder
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Could blow everywhere if not used correctly
Nippon ant killing powder is the brand that my mum used when I was small and it is now the brand I have at hand. Not really sure if there are many others brands of ant killer as never looked.
The hot weather is back and so are the ants.
The the tube is a distinctive white with a red square on it which shows a big black ant. The lids are also red. So look for something that stands out in red and white.
The contents are a white powder which looks the same as flour but believe me it is not. When using be careful not to squirt from a distance as it is a fine powder so needs be a close range to be correctly dispersed.
On opening the top you will find a small hole from which the powder can exit when you squeeze the tube. It needs to be put into area where the ants will go to it and it works by them carrying the powder back to their nests and killing them from what is contained in the powder.
I tend to put a trail around the doorsteps and in any holes I see ants use.
This product can be used outside or inside the home but keep away from food stuffs if using in a cupboard.
It is child and pet safe but still I'm careful my son knows not to touch it as it could end up in his mouth which I'm sure wouldn't be good.
This product costs approximately £4.00 for a 500ml tube which would last a long while depending on how often you need to replenish the places you are using it. If the weather stays dry with no rain to wash it away it will still be visible for weeks.
I find this product does work and reduces the number of ants soldiering around.
I couldn't see this product in main supermarkets when looked on line as they stock raid ( I knew there was another product for killing ants out there lol) but I know it can be brought in my local hardware store so that's is where I'd suggest you try also.
Of course another way of killing ants is popping a jam jar or honey jar still with some jam or honey instead and add some water, Then pop the lid back on and pierce some holes into it. The ants are attracted to the sweet smell and dive into it then can't get out again. I personally prefer the powder as sure the jam would attract them from neighbours gardens too...
Summary: I use this and feel it does work.
