RAID - Cruelty to wasps? (Raid)

I am not very brave when it comes to dealing with wasps, so I like to keep a can of Raid handy just in case. A wasp got into our kitchen today so out came the Raid, several sprays later, said wasp finally did the decent thing and stopped flying, fell down and landed in a spiders web. There it lay struggling, so I figured it hadn't had enough Raid yet so zapped it a couple of more times for good measure. This was at around 12.15pm. An hour later I noticed it's legs were still moving! I watched it for a short time, and it was making feeble attempts to move around, still stuck in this web. I felt pretty awful that it had lived for so long, but as I said, I'm pathetic when it comes to dealing with wasps and cannot bear to touch them. So I left it. Another hour later I checked again and it was still moving, although much less so this time. Then I went out for the rest of the afternoon and when I came back it really was over.

I was really surprised that it took over 2 hours for the Raid to actually kill the wasp. It was certainly incapacitated quite quickly, but after an estimated 10 sprays you would expect this. Even though I'm no good at squashing them, and I hate them, I felt really bad about this wasp lying there twitching and struggling as it died a slow and no doubt not very nice death. Maybe it's time I summoned up the courage to do the job faster with a rolled up newspaper?
