Homebase Classic Sunbed
by blonde_girl774
We recently had some nice weather in England, this might be a distant memory for most of you judging by the weather we've had this last week but we did once have sun bathing weather! During the nice weather I decided I wanted to take advantage of the sunshine and invested in a sun bed... in the hope that I'd be able to spend many long ... days in the garden during July and August... it's not looking likely at the moment! I chose the Homebase Classic Sun Bed - an affordable and basic sun bed that looked comfortable and modern when I saw it in the shop.
The Classic Sun Bed came in a flat pack and was very easy to assemble, in fact there was no assembly needed I just had to open the sun bed (which was folded into three for easy storage) and place it upright on the ground. The sun bed itself is 26.5cm high, 55.5cm wide and 193cm in length meaning it's suitable for my six foot frame thankfully! The sun bed also boasts five adjustable positions meaning you can have the back piece very nearly upright if you want to sit up to read or completly flat if you wish to lie down, then a further three positions in between.
The silver metal frame is covered in a polyester material which doesn't allow sweat to soak in and is fairly comfortable to lie on as well. The sun bed is available in a bright red, a lime green and a turquoise blue - I selected the turquoise blue. It could be more padded but that's the only fault. It's currently priced at £19.99 in Homebase stores, although I bought mine on offer for £14.99. Overall I'd fully recommend this, it's affordable, comfortable, easy to store, lightweight and portable - what more do you need? Ah yes, some sun would be good!

Tesco XL Airflow Folding Chair
by hunts1874
So camping is all about roughing it and being at one with nature etc but I still like somewhere comfortable to sit. I have had a few of these folding chairs over the years and none of them have been particularly durable. Then again you do get what you pay for. I decided to pay a little more than the normal £5 job out of Poundstretcher ... and invested £12 in one of Tesco's XL Airflow Folding Chairs and so far so good.
I have had this chair away with me on 3 weekends so far and spent a number of hours relaxing around a BBQ perched in my chair with my beer nestled nicely in the drinks holder which is in the arm of the chair. This chair is one of the most comfortable camping chairs I have sat in over the years. The back of the chair is slightly padded for extra comfort and the chair is deeper than most I have come across before.
It takes seconds to unfold and fold up again once you are done and there is a carry case provided to pop the chair in when you are not using it. Personally I don't get a great deal of benefit from the carry case as the chair normally moves all of about 5 metres from the boot of the car to the camp site and back again. The chair is also fairly lightweight and weight around 3.5kg but like I said I don't carry it around with me so the weight isn't that important to me personally.
The chair is fairly robust. I have found with other chairs that the material rips easily, I haven't found that to be the case with this car. The chair is made up of a steel frame and the material is polyester. The other nice thing about this chair is that there is plenty of room in it. I find with some of the folding chairs I feel like the chair will be stuck to my bottom when I try and stand up.
This gets the big thumbs up to me and would recommend this to family and friends. Read the complete review |

Asda Kids 3 Piece Set
by cornishchic
This Asda childrens 3 piece set cost £15 (March 2011). It is available in most bigger Asda stores and currently isn't available online. Ours is a tad different from the picture as it has a green table top with red and blue legs, one red chair and one blue chair.
The set includes 2 fold out chairs and a patio table. It was ... packaged well, so no damage was possible before we took it out of the box, it was also very lightweight so easy to carry to the car without taking up all the room in the trolley. Assembly was easy as the chairs came already assembled, and the table legs just clipped into place on the underneath of the table.
We originally kept one chair inside for my daughter, and she loved it. I would sit next to the chair and she would sit in the chair while I read to her, it's a nice height for her to be able to point in the books and read with me. She found it easy to climb in and out of the chair from 16 months. I think she would be able to fit nicely for a good few years.
The table and other chair are kept outside for when we eat or do crafty things in the garden. The chair is a nice height for the table, enough room to get legs under the table and still being able to use the table effortlessly. The green colour is a problem though, as we have often opened the back door to find wasps and flies attracted to the table. Wasps will just hover over the table (and me being a wuss just closes the door quickly hoping they will fly away when we go back out again!). Maybe if it was a different colour it wouldn't attract so many bugs.
It has now been nearly 4 months since I bought this set, and after being outside all this time the legs to the table and chairs are fading already. I honestly thought they would keep there colour longer, but obviously not.
My daughter hasn't took a blind bit of notice to the fading, and still loves to sit at the table and copy mummy sitting at her table reading a book. I'm sure she will use it for a couple more months, but I doubt it will last for the rest of the nice weather this year.
For £15 I expected a decent patio set that we could get use out of for atleast a year. I wish I had spent a little more money and got a better quality patio set. After saying all this, the fading could be due to being outside on the rainy days we have had, but I wouldn't of thought it would fade just as much as it has. Read the complete review |
