When I moved in 2010 I had a lovely garden which I wanted to sit out in. I decided I would like a nice table and chair set. I didn't want to shop around and as I had an idea what I wanted I went to Argos.com picked one put and immediately drove to collect it. The set I have is called Sienna, I can't see it online now but it cost me £99.99 at the time. It consists of 4 wooden chairs and a circular round table. As with all Argos furniture it came flat packed and was in two boxes one for the table and one for the chairs. It was a bit of a juggle getting it in my then car which was a coupe but I managed it! The set required minimal construction, the chairs simply folded open and the table needed to sodden legs to be attached again this can be done easily. It took me about ten minutes. The main reason I chose a wood set was because I find it stays looking nicer longer, in the past metal sets have rusted and the plastic ones tend to fade in the sun. Once constructed my set looked really nice, the only downside of wooden chairs is they are a little hard on your bottom and if you sunbathe in a bikini like me I like to sit on one chair with my kegs and feet on another so I can read you get marks on your legs. I would recommend investing in cushions which Argos again sell for a reasonable price. 4 summers on and my table started looking a little battered this year,I have to admit that despite having a garage I am really lazy and I can't be bothered to drag it in and out so I leave it outside on,I also prefer it there so when I come back from running I can sit on one of the seats to remove my shoes. I decided that this year would be the year I painted my set. I had some left over Cuprinol Duck Egg paint which coated the set lovely, the set looked as good as new and my friend even asked if I had purchased new furniture. This overall was a good investment it has come in useful throughout the summer and last Christmas even came inside with a fancy tablecloth for extra seats for Christmas. I would recommend Argos garden furniture they have a vast choice, all the accessories needed to go with it and you can collect more often than not the same day. I am pleased with my purchase and 4 summers on I am still making good use of it.
In a few of my previous reviews I may have mentioned once or twice that Mr Lools and I have started a large project in our garden, planting, digging add a decking area, with patio heater and decking lights. I am pleased to say that the gardening project was finished two weekends ago. The garden; in particular the decking area looks fantastic. Unfortunately our 3 years old green plastic patio set looked extremely out of place on the decking and we had to look for a replacement. After shopping around in a number of DIY stores stocking garden furniture Mr Lools and I called upon the trusty Argos catalogue. We were looking for a patio set more stylish than the plastic resin furniture but not too expensive i.e. under £100, which would last us a few summers at least. ------Choice---------------------------------- After browsing the Argos catalogue there were 4 possible sets which fitted our criteria. In comparison to other retailers such as B & Q, Focus, Tesco, Asda Living this was a much wider choice. Top marks for Argos! After some deliberation we opted for the Atlantic 6 piece Patio Set. ------Price-------------------------------------- The Atlantic six piece patio set cost £79.00. If you want the product delivered there is an additional £5 delivery fee on top of this for standard delivery. -------Delivery/ Availability ----------------- The Atlantic patio set is available for store pick up and home delivery. The product was in stock at our local store so we were able to pick this up on. The weight of the product is 34.5kg. The patio set comes in two boxes. A 20kg box and a 14.5kg box. Due to the amount of packaging the boxes are very bulky. The product comes in two boxes about 1.5m long by 1.5 metres wide. If you have a small car then you are not likely to fit the boxes into the car. Similarly if you go to collect these on your own you may need to ask for help to get the boxes to your car. We managed to fit the boxes into my medium sized car (and Audi A3) but this was a squeeze and the back seats of the car had to be put down. The website advises that if you want to opt for the home delivery option the product is available within two days subject to availability. -------The Product------------------------------- The Atlantic 6 piece patio set includes a square glass top table, 4 high back black foldable chairs and a parasol The table and chairs have a stain proof and water proof covering. Table size (H)71, (W)81, (D)81 cm. Parasol size (H)204.5, (diameter)199cm. Chair size (H)90, (W)55, (D)65cm. ***Assembly*** The patio table is flat pack but it is very easily assembled. It is recommended that 2 people assemble the table. One person can assemble the table in fact as long as they are able to hold the centre pieces of the table and attach the screws into the metal centre pieces. All instructions, screws and an allen key is also included in the pack. The chairs and parasol come fully assembled and are folded up. The chairs fold up for storage. The table legs can be removed for storage too. ***Look*** The table and chairs together look very neat. The table is large enough for four people without it appearing too bulky but still a practical size. The silver and black chairs match the parasol very well so the set looks modern, and a lot more attractive than our old green resin patio set. Personally I would have preferred the glass on the table to be clear or frosted rather than a bumpy frosted glass but that is only a simple gripe. The table legs are thin and the metal framework is very light giving a contemporary look. The table is very sturdy however. ***Quality*** For the price, the quality of the patio set was much better than I expected. The table, chairs and parasol are very sturdy. Last weekend we had a BBQ in which a fair amount of alcohol was consumed therefore Mr Lools, myself and our guests were not particularly careful. On the metal legs there are a few small scuffs but nothing noticeable and you have to look very carefully to see. The patio table had a few drinks spilt on it but after a wipe down the glass had no scratches on and looked like new. If you compared the overall quality of the product, to a more expensive patio set, the set from Argos would appear to be of a lesser quality, but this should be expected for £80 in comparison to a £250 set. Looking at the Atlantic patio set from Argos when it is set out on the decking in my garden, it does look a good quality set and not cheap and tatty like some of the less expensive sets in B & Q looked like. The table legs can also be adjusted so the table stands sturdy on uneven surfaces. ***Overall*** If you are after a patio set then I would definitely recommend Argos as a contender. Based upon the choice available, overall look of the product and value for money and cost five out of five!
I bought the The Atlantic Patio set from Argos for the bargain price of £98.00 last year - it comprised of a glass topped table, 4 high back steel framed foldable chairs, a big black brolly, and 2 steel framed sun loungers. Compared to some of the other ranges where you can pay £40.00 for a sun lounger on its own (which looks exactly the same as the one included), I thought this was a fab deal. The Atlantic Patio Set is still available, but they are now billing it as a 6 piece for £78.29, with the 'Special Offer' option of buying 2 sun loungers for an additional £20.00 - so it is still pretty much the same deal, just worded differently. The table comes flat packed, but it is easily assembled - just a couple of nuts and bolts, everything else is foldable so no other handywork was required. The quality of the set seems really good, although we didn't have much of a summer last year for me to try it out properly, but it looks like it will withstand some heavy duty relaxing :) The patio set looks fab, the table is square with rounded off corners, and is made of black glass with a steel edge. The chairs have high backs and they are also made of steel and covered with a black mesh type material. The chairs are comfy, nothing digs into the back of your knees like the old style cloth chairs used to, and they fold down for easy storage. If you want stylish garden furniture on a budget, and don't want to be bothered treating a wooden set every year, then I would recommend this set from Argos.
I bought a wooden and metal garden bench from Argos. It has a metal decorative back with wooden slats to sit on. It is also at the less expensive end of the price band for benches at just under £25. For the price I think you get good value for money. It is sturdy enough for sitting on but it wouldn't be very stable if you were to stand on it. It is also quite comfortable for sitting on but if you wanted to spend all afternoon on it you would probably be looking to find some cushions for extra comfort. It is reasonably well finished with the wood being nicely smoothed off so no splinters but you can tell that it is mass production line rather than individually crafted. If you are looking for a quite nice looking bench that you can use on and off throughout the summer but without spending lots of money this will do the job well. Because of the good value price garden theft of this item although annoying would not be a catastrophe and it is also an item that we are comfortable leaving outside all the time as it has actually withstood the winter weather very well.
Argos is always one of my first choices come the summer time if I'm on the lookout for new garden furniture. I like to have a look around sometimes but this year, for the sake of convenience, I used the Argos website because I'd heard there were some good savings if you bought early on this year. In the past I've had everything from the plastic sets to the fancy wooden patio sets and never had much cause for complaint. I wouldn't recommend the plastic sets if you can afford wooden from here but then I don't think I'd recommend them from anywhere to be honest. I find they're easy to break after six months use so you might as well invest in a decent wooden set to last you a few years from the off. This year the Mrs and I decided on the Sicily 6 seater set. It was just over £250 for the set which includes a decent sized table that doesn't take up too much room along with six chairs and a matching parasol. It's a good size for our family and sturdy enough to last a few summers without being unfashionable or looking cheap. We've not really used it yet though you can tell just by trying it out that it's made from decent material and it's very comfy to sit on. I can see us using it a lot over the summer this year. We've also got a kids garden swing seat from Argos that we bought for the grandson last year. He was a bit young to use it then really but this year I can see him getting a lot of use out of it. Because it's fabric, we've kept it in the shed with a cover over it since last autumn but I've been out and had a peak when the new patio set came and it's still in good condition. I've always had good furniture from Argos for the garden with the exception of a cheap plastic set years ago that broke before the season was out. I think if you look around you can get slightly cheaper but for things like this, I often just go straight to Argos for the sake of convenience. A recommendation by me for good prices and decent furniture.
Well to start off I would like to say sorry if this is in the wrong place I'm still pretty new to Dooyoo. Now on to this new table we bought last week for our kids we got it in Argos for £27.99 and it really is a great table, it has four chairs included with it and it also folds down to the size of an average suitcase nd is really light to carry. So far this table has been used in the yard,at the beach, and even in the living room as a dining table as we do not have much space for a dining room set up, usually it is a case of eating with the plate on your knee. This table is a strong durable weatherproof plastic and has 4 metal framed covered stools that fold inside the the table into a suitcase shape and it also has a handle so it is easy to carry. Also there is room to put an umbrella onto this table to shade your food from the sun or rain if like our weather here. This table takes up very little storage as it is very thin when folded and is just the size of the table split in half, so it can be stored most places like under the bed or under the stairs. If there was a downside to this product it could only be the seats have no backs on them so with younger children you would have to watch them. As for strenth this table is really strong as the other day there was a full adult family of 4 sitting outside on it, with all the food and drinks as well, oh and kids jumping around, I am sure you can guess it was just a typical family get together. Although I have only had this table for just over 1 week I have already had value for money as it gets used daily. This table will be going everywhere in the summer as it will be handy, no more sand in your butties on the beach,or ants crawling around off the grass. If you are looking for a table and you do not have much space I would really recomend this one. Like me you could use it as a dining table as well as outdoor use and it wi ll hide out of site when finished with. No one will know about it. I have been trying to find out the weight of this table but I can not find it however it is lghter than a standard pram and it is less bulky too. thanks for reading this I will update this in a few months when I have tested it more.
