Advantages: Affordable, Some Decent Quality, Convenient Range
Disadvantages: Not All Decent Quality
Argos is always one of my first choices come the summer time if I'm on the lookout for new garden furniture. I like to have a look around sometimes but this year, for the sake of convenience, I used the Argos website because I'd heard there were some good savings if you bought early on this year.
In the past I've had everything from the plastic sets to the fancy wooden patio sets and never had much cause for complaint. I wouldn't recommend the plastic sets if you can afford wooden from here but then I don't think I'd recommend them from anywhere to be honest. I find they're easy to break after six months use so you might as well invest in a decent wooden set to last you a few years from the off.
This year the Mrs and I decided on the Sicily 6 seater set. It was just over £250 for the set which includes a decent sized table that doesn't take up too much room along with six chairs and a matching parasol. It's a good size for our family and sturdy enough to last a few summers without being unfashionable or looking cheap. We've not really used it yet though you can tell just by trying it out that it's made from decent material and it's very comfy to sit on. I can see us using it a lot over the summer this year.
We've also got a kids garden swing seat from Argos that we bought for the grandson last year. He was a bit young to use it then really but this year I can see him getting a lot of use out of it. Because it's fabric, we've kept it in the shed with a cover over it since last autumn but I've been out and had a peak when the new patio set came and it's still in good condition.
I've always had good furniture from Argos for the garden with the exception of a cheap plastic set years ago that broke before the season was out. I think if you look around you can get slightly cheaper but for things like this, I often just go straight to Argos for the sake of convenience. A recommendation by me for good prices and decent furniture.

- 25/04/08 Handy to know of your experience but it would have been good here if you had owned some wooden furniture from Argos for a longer period of time to reflect on its general build quality and how it survives the British weather - because no matter if it breaks, plastic furniture is a lot easier to handle both on weight and weather conditions. |

- 23/04/08 Argos are quite competitive for a number of products, I've bought sun beds from here before and they've been great. Sam |
