Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Fades quickly
This Asda childrens 3 piece set cost £15 (March 2011). It is available in most bigger Asda stores and currently isn't available online. Ours is a tad different from the picture as it has a green table top with red and blue legs, one red chair and one blue chair.
The set includes 2 fold out chairs and a patio table. It was packaged well, so no damage was possible before we took it out of the box, it was also very lightweight so easy to carry to the car without taking up all the room in the trolley. Assembly was easy as the chairs came already assembled, and the table legs just clipped into place on the underneath of the table.
We originally kept one chair inside for my daughter, and she loved it. I would sit next to the chair and she would sit in the chair while I read to her, it's a nice height for her to be able to point in the books and read with me. She found it easy to climb in and out of the chair from 16 months. I think she would be able to fit nicely for a good few years.
The table and other chair are kept outside for when we eat or do crafty things in the garden. The chair is a nice height for the table, enough room to get legs under the table and still being able to use the table effortlessly. The green colour is a problem though, as we have often opened the back door to find wasps and flies attracted to the table. Wasps will just hover over the table (and me being a wuss just closes the door quickly hoping they will fly away when we go back out again!). Maybe if it was a different colour it wouldn't attract so many bugs.
It has now been nearly 4 months since I bought this set, and after being outside all this time the legs to the table and chairs are fading already. I honestly thought they would keep there colour longer, but obviously not.
My daughter hasn't took a blind bit of notice to the fading, and still loves to sit at the table and copy mummy sitting at her table reading a book. I'm sure she will use it for a couple more months, but I doubt it will last for the rest of the nice weather this year.
For £15 I expected a decent patio set that we could get use out of for atleast a year. I wish I had spent a little more money and got a better quality patio set. After saying all this, the fading could be due to being outside on the rainy days we have had, but I wouldn't of thought it would fade just as much as it has.
Summary: Cheap kids patio set, doesn't last long.
