Now that winter is upon us, all our garden furniture should be either stored away or covered up to keep it in tip top condition for next season.
On seeing these at a local Car Booty, therefore, at the bargain price of just a pound each (were they dodgy? - probably - he had a truck full), I bought two on impulse and scurried home to fit them.
Can I suggest to all readers that before they do the same, it is a good idea to measure your sun loungers first, because what we call our sun loungers - the posh wooden ones - are too big for these covers to fit.
The total length of the cover is 175 cms with a maximum height at the head end of 76 cms and at the foot end of 30 cms. They are 30 cms wide.
We have now given them to one of the kids and can confirm that they do however fit a standard foldy outy sun lounger type thingy - apologies for the technical jargon - the ones with the fabric stretched over a metal frame.
So, they weren't a good buy for us. Our lad is happy with them though - they've only got a small house and couldn't fit their sun loungers into their shed; they were just going to leave theirs outside, so they were glad of them.
During the course of trying them out, we did note that they were well-constructed, with well-stitched seams and they looked as if they would offer good protection against the elements. We also bought a parasol cover made by the same manufacturer from the same material - which fortunately does fit the parasol and which has been in use now for a month or so - that one seems to be fit for purpose.
You see a lot of flimsy looking ones in the shops and this is one of those purchases that is a waste of money if you buy too cheap. This one, I would say was pretty good quality, albeit in an unattractive puke green.
It is made of tough woven polyethylene and is UV stabilised against the sun. It's got eyelets and ties so that you can lash it down. Apart from the furious flapping if it's too loose, you don't want to see your cover disappear over the fields on a windy day.
Bosmere seems to be a reputable supplier and provides a full range of protective covers for all your garden furniture.
