Bought on an impulse from a camping shop at £175 for two, cheap they aren't but they are worth every penny! We'd been working up to this for a long time, torturing ourselves with a few minutes rest in the display chairs each time we visited the shop, and eventually, on our way home after this particular visit, we did a swift u-turn, legged it back in and grabbed two before it was too late! These French made chairs come with a two-year guarantee and are the ultimate in garden comfort. High tensile steel frames have elastic lacing threaded through loops which support a padded seat complete with headrest and will have you nodding off in the sun in no time. The reclining action is very smooth and infinitely adjustable so you can sit in the exact position you want and not in one predefined by the manufacturer. Once you're happy with the position simply turn out the levers under each arm rest to lock the seat in position. The tops of the resin arms have built in pads to make things even more comfortable. When fully reclined you are looking directly up in to the sky with your feet level with your head and what usually happens next involves waking up some time later wondering exactly how long you've been 'out' for. The headrest is a simple but clever pad held on by a loop of elastic material, which means it, can be positioned wherever you like, and even used as an extra footrest if you feel like it. These chairs are widely used by reflexologists to get easy access to feet and keep clients relaxed and are available in a variety of colours and styles, some with a slightly less comfortable mesh seat, which means they can be left outdoors in the rain with no problem unlike the padded seat version, although these won't suffer too much if accidentally left out. They're made from very high quality cotton canvas and some of these seats sold in the 1980's are still going strong. They are rather bulk
y to store at 20 x 70 x 100 cm folded and weigh around 8kg (17lbs) but if, like me you've eventually given up on ever getting the car in the garage again, there'll be no problem; we even find enough room to make sure they go on our camping trips for the ultimate in field comfort! Should anything break after the guarantee ends, all chair parts are readily available as spares and there is a range of accessories from sun canopies to carrying bags available if you feel the need to spend even more cash! One word of warning should you see these on sale. Don?t sit in one unless you intend to buy soon, you'll never forgive yourself. Oh, and make sure you buy one for everybody in the family! check out http://www.lafuma.org.uk/ AND www.towsure.co.uk for the 2 for £175 offer (as at 26.11.03)
