Last year I got a nice rebate from the tax man and so we decided to spend part of it on some garden furniture, hoping for a nice summer (that was summer 2012). Unfortunately, the summer was a bit of a wash out but the furniture is great and we did get to use it on quite a few occasions and I'm looking forward to
Previously we had quite a formal wooden table and chairs but we found that storing it outside really was not the best idea and it got quite mouldy and the chairs actually broke quite easily so we knew this time around we didn't want a wooden table even though I like the look of them. Also, I didn't want something as formal as a table to sit at and wanted a more lounge furniture type look that included a couch and some big chairs that we could lounge about on, sunbathe on and all snuggle up on when we spent time outside in the garden.
We had been looking at this set and this website for quite a while on the internet before we decided to purchase and we actually made a visit to their showroom. The showroom turned out to be on a tiny little industrial estate and there was not too many products to look at but at least we could see the quality and know what we were buying. We then placed the order with the lady in the office but over their internet site so we benefitted from quite a hefty discount. I paid in the £700 region for two arm chairs, one two seater sofa, a stool, all with cushions and a glass topped table so I definitely think this was good value.
The furniture is made from a fully weatherproof PVC rattan so its got a plastic-ish feel to it but it is not plasticey, if you get my drift. This furniture actually looks really nice and is good quality and has been a nice addition to our garden. We have it on our decking and the area looks really nice, especially at night when we get some candles out there and the barbeque is going. The benefit of the waterproof PVC is that we can keep this furniture stored outside in the garden during the winter and it has faired really well, it has not cracked, broken or faded at all. According to the information from the website, " It can be left outside all year round because the synthetic rattan is hand woven over a rust resistant frame." It is also able to withstand extreme heat so when it does get hot, even though the surface is a bit hot to the touch it does not melt or change shape or anything like that. Also, the furniture is really easy to keep clean as you can just wipe it down should it get any dirt or food on it.
The furniture is quite square and has quite hard lines but I like that about them as you can rest a drink on the arms of these arms chairs. The backs of the chairs and the sofa are quite upright too so they give you a nice comfortable seat. They are actually really comfortable to sit on and the cushions are lovely. There is a cushion for the back and also for the bottom. What I like about the cushions is that the outside is washable so you can take the covers off and wash them and they still fit the same afterwards. They simply unzip although to protect them we do keep these cushions in the garage over winter.
The furniture is actually quite light so its easy to pick up and move around. This is handy when it comes to the foot stool as its the same diameter as the chairs and one side of the sofa so you can add it on at the end to make a longer sitting area. This is nice to relax and lay on when you do this although I think we could have done with two in the set as my husband and I are always fighting over this.
The Dimensions are given as: Sofa: H680 W1450 D750mm Armchair: H680 W750 D750mm Footstool (Including cushion) H430 W640 D640mm Coffee Table: H430 W640 D640mm.
In conclusion this is such as well made set, it looks nice, is very low maintenance and will last us for many years to come yet. Lets just hope summer 2013 is better than last summer!!
