Garden Trading Glass Bell Votive Lantern
Advantages: A nice garden feature that will transform your outside area
Disadvantages: They are not the cheapest to buy
Just before Christmas my fiancé and I had planned to have a big family get together at our house. We have glass French doors leading on to our patio and garden and I wanted to keep the curtains open and make the garden look nice with lights. I didn't fancy big Santa's and snowmen lit up, apologies to anyone who has those but they just are not my thing, I was looking for something that I could hang.
I had a look on e bay and Amazon and spotted the Garden Trading Glass Bell Votive Lanterns. At £4.50 each not the cheapest option to go for but I figured that they could be used any time of year not just Christmas and as they are tea light holders there would be no wires, bulbs or extension leads to cope with.
The Garden Trading Glass Bell Votive Lantern is basically a clear glass round curvy bowl. The bowl has a curvy line pattern on it and tapers in at the top where it has a small rim. This has some wire around it to which a little wire handle is attached. This is what you use to hang the lights up with. Personally I think the whole shape reminds me of old fashioned flower vases.
The Glass Bell Votives are approximately 10cm's x 9.5cm's. They are designed to hold a tea light and personally I wouldn't try using anything else. A tea light ensures that no wax will run in the actual glass globe. As the lights are designed to be hung they are likely to sway slightly and a tea light should keep the wax encased in its little metal holder.
We have a tree in our garden and I used this to hang my Glass Bell Votives from. They can also be hung from fences, pergolas and really do look pretty when lit. As I said I hung mine fro the tree, and with the snow and frost that was clinging to the branches they really did look fantastic and gave the garden a real festive feel. They stayed securely hung on the branches with the metal handles. I was very pleased with the effect they created.
The glass bells can be used anytime of year, not just Christmas. In the summer they would look pretty hanging from pergolas or even just brackets attached to a fence. I plan to burn citronella tea lights in mine in the summer.
I recommend the Garden Trading Glass Bell Votive Lanterns, they can transform a garden or patio area and provide a real atmosphere. They are easy to use, you have no wires trailing or extension leads to cope with. Of course you are using candles so care should be taken. Never leave them burning unattended or use in real windy weather. This apart they give a soft glow which at Christmas looked festive and magical for both adults and children but equally if its just an intimate drink or BBQ for 2 then these would certainly create a romantic feel to your garden, patio or even balcony.
If you take care of the Glass Bell Votives Lanterns they should last a considerable time making sure you get good value for your money.
Summary: A pretty addition to my garden
