Advantages: Doesn't need to be a sunny day for them to work!

Disadvantages: None

I bought two sets of these from Amazon a fortnight ago. A set of 50 lights cost me £10.95 with free postage and packaging. My garden is in two sections, I have patio doors leading out onto a large patio which overlooks our actual garden which is about 10 feet below and has to be accessed by steps. Because of this there is a fence running along the patio which is about 3 feet high. It looked pretty boring and after spending weeks making the garden look nicer I was looking for something to put along the fence to brighten it up, that's where these lights came in.

The come in a box similar to christmas lights. When you take them out from the box they look exactly like modern LED christmas lights.

The lights are free to run as they are solar powered, the bulbs are also guaranteed for life as they are very low energy.

When you remove the lights from the box and unwind them they are just short of 5 metres long. You also get an extra 2 metres of wiring so that you can position the lights where you like. The lights were easy to secure onto the fence I used little tacks, taking care not to damage the wire. As my lights were running along the fence I chose to secure the solar panel to the fence using a nail. The solar panel can be hung or it comes with a stake to stick in the ground. The lights have an on/off switch on the box there is also a setting to set them to stay static or to flash. The lights are spaced at good intervals I would say about 4 inches apart. There is a sensor in the solar panel that automatically switches the lights on as it gets dark.

As the weather of late has been a little cloudy and wet I wasn't expecting miracles the first night I had put them up. However as it started turning dark at around 7pm the lights pinged on and amazingly were really bright. I would say they are as bright as my mains operated christmas lights. I was very impressed as the day had been really overcast and dull. I leave the curtains open in my living room as we overlook a wood so I don't feel the need to shut them. I watched the lights twinkling away until about 3am (I'm a night owl) and then they did run out. A few days this week we have had some lovely sunshine and when they have been in direct sunlight they last even longer in the night. I have to say I am really thrilled with these lights. My back garden is really dark and they brighten it up no end! My 7 month old daughter who loves twinkly lights also loves watching them flicker away! I would definately buy these again in fact I have ordered more for two of my trees 5 out of 5 from me!

Summary: A great way to brighten up your garden!
