“ Brand: Hozelock / Type: Pond Pump „
The Titan 3000 pond pump is a good middle of the road solids handling pump. The general idea behind a solids handling pump, is that as the impellor can cope with small peices of grit and gravel etc, then there in no need for a sponge in the pump. By not having a sponge in the pump, it sure does cut down the need for regular maintenance in the height of the summer. Although the pump can handle solids, due to the relatively small inlet holes, the pump can still block up fairly quickly in the summer, with weed, blanketweed etc. The pump cage is a little lightweight, and doesn't always re-seat that well to lock into position. I would suggest that you place the pump on an up-turned plant basket, or a few bricks on the base of the pond, so the pump doesn't have to deal with the real sludgey stuff on the pond floor. The pump inside itself is a good performer, but the rest of the component parts are a little cheaply made, and this shows after a while.
"Ideal for waterfalls, watercourse and filtration. Designed for continuous running with minimum cleaning. Can handle solids up to 4mm. The Titan has large intake slots at the base , thus enable solids to be collected from the floor of the pond. A wildlife protection system is incorporated, whereby the intake slot holes can be closed down to as little as 2mm. A ball joint on the outlet makes routing the hose from the pump even easier. 3 year guarantee. Hose connection size 3/4"", 1"", 1 1/4"" and 1 1/2""."
