Proteam Kent Collection 560/02 Garden Trolley Truck
by barbie84 Last summer I was landscaping our front garden and my husband had just had an operation on his shoulder so wasn't capable of doing any heavy lifting so I invested in this as a way to help me to move heavier items more easily as I was pregnant at the time. It claims to be easy assembly but to be honest with you it took me ages ... to get the wheels to fit on properly and at first I actually had one fall off on me so easy assembly is something I really have to disagree with. It has an adjustable handle, which it definitely needs as even though in the picture it looks quite tall I found it to be a lot smaller than I was expecting it to be and even with the adjustable handle I still could have done with it being a bit taller to stop me having to bend slightly. I brought it initially for use in the garden but the week after I brought it I had a new kitchen floor fitted which meant I had to move all the white goods out of the kitchen, this was a lot easier to do using this and I found it to be fantastic, the plate on the bottom slid easily under all my appliances and they were very easy to manager on this but they didn't feel as stable as others I have used. It has an 80 kg lifting/carrying capacity but this only applies to the base which is reinforced, the mesh back is very thin and flimsy and came apart from the trolley after using it just a couple of times to move bags of cement which were only 15 kg so I wasn't very happy about this. It is designed to be used upright or flat as a trolley, when I tried to use it flat to move a few paving slabs the wheels seemed really wobbly and it was very hard to manuver as it had a mind of its own. It got me through the gardening for a few months but if you are looking for something that will last more than a few uses I would recommend going for a more expensive one as this really isn't up to the job of hard prolonged usage. by ally_kats_mama I like to be independent as a girl. I was in my early teens when girls were encouraged in Girl Power and the like and it is something that has stuck deep rooted within me (and if you need to know, I wanted to be Sporty Spice!) so I don't like asking my husband to do things for me. I am quite capable of lifting things and getting on with ... hammers, nails and the like on my own thank you very much. We have been doing our garden recently as well as filling up my daughter's sand pit as well as putting down some new compost and the like. Now compost and sand bags are heavy stuff and my husband isn't about all the time but I still like to get on with things so I ended up buyong one of these trolley trucks from online for £19.99 which I thought was a bargain though I really should have known better.... The trolley is supposed to be small and durable as well as sturdy and easy to move around. It is also supposed to be able to hold up to 80kg of weight being placed on it. It has two large back wheels and a pair of smaller front ones. It has a little mesh barrier which is supposed to keep all the bits you are moving about on it. Now for a start the trolley doesn't come assembled so before you even start on the hard work of the garden you have to deal with the trials and tribulations of getting the thing put together. So with my daughter handing me screwdrives and the like as I started putting it together. Most of the putting together was pretty simple but the wheels were a big problem as they have to be aligned correctly and I have never put a wheel on anything in my life. But I tried and I huffed and puffed away at doing it, with my daughter laughing hysterically everytime the wheel fell back off and eventually I got the wheels on but they didn't look particularly straight (though after an hour I didn't particularly care either). My biggest annoyance with this product was that it was so small. It was built for someone a little bit bigger than my four year old! I am 5ft 6in but felt like a little old granny as I hunched over this piece of metal to push it along. It really is the smallest thing I have ever seen and it looks flimsy but I still loaded 3 bags of compost on it and as I was moving up the garden, with the trolley going any way except the way I wanted it to because of my soddy assembly of the wheels, the mesh came apart from the frame and dumped everything on the floor. My daughter at this point was trying to catch her breath from laughing. I suppose seeing Mummy bright red and losing the plot is pretty funny to a four year old. All in all I wouldn't recommend one of these trolleys (unless you are munchkin from the Wizard of Oz) as not only are they annoying to put together, it is too small and ultimately it broke. Not a good experience. Now did I tell my husband of my tale? No of course I didn't because I am a strong independent woman who managed to put the whole thing together properly and get everything where I needed it to be. by victorias_books I wanted a trolley for the garden, as when it comes to performing tasks such as hauling bags of compost around or shifting fence panels sometimes a girl could do with a little help. Unfortunately I didn't realise that the Proteam Trolley Truck was a self-assembly piece, and wasn't aware at the time of purchase that it would often end up ... being more of a hindrance than a help. The trolley has the following dimensions: 970mm x 400mm x 340mm. The packaging promised the product to be small yet durable, and able to withstand up to 80kg of weight being placed on it. With two large back wheels and a pair of smaller front ones, it has a barrier to hold baggage while in transport and a wire mesh at the back to prevent said baggage toppling onto you as you convey it from location to location. The first problem I encountered with the trolley was its assembly. The instructions were faultless, being as they provided a concise step by step guide, complete with visual aid. However, when it came to fitting the wheels and attempting to align them, the screws for one of them was slightly larger than the other and thus I discovered this affected their alignment. Subsequently pushing the trolley presented problems with direction, and I also found the wheel fitted with the larger screw to be stiff. Similarly, while in theory a compact, lightweight trolley sounds appealing, in practise it was not always ideal. Unless you are very small you must hunch over to steer the trolley with both hands, and while the device purports to hold up to 80kg in weight, I never attempted to load it with such as the mesh was so flimsy I felt sure the baggage would fall through it while in transit. This trolley may be suitable for those who wish to convey lightweight objects around their garden, but for me this defeats the object. I only bought the trolley to transport heavy/bulky items, for which this product is not suitable. For me this device did not deliver, and has made me wary of similar self-assembly products.
