Where I live we have two gardens. They are not massive but they are big enough to cause us some problems. By that I mean they grow, which for me is a problem. While they are not the most beautiful gardens in the world they are reasonably nice and we do try to keep them well maintained and looking nice. Every so often there comes a time when giving thing a clip and a trim is not enough, things get over grown or we decide we want a change and more heavy duty labour is involved. Admittedly this only happens once every few years but on such occasions we need slightly more serious equipment. One of those pieces of equipment is a wheel barrow.
The wheel barrow that we currently make use of is this one, the Country Coaster Galvanised Wheelbarrow. This is one that we have been using for a few years and it has done rather well, hence it getting a review. So what can I tell you about this wheelbarrow? Well first of all the important things, it's 90litres which makes it a decent size but not to big or awkward. It has one wheel as you would expect from a wheelbarrow. The handles have a nice rubber coasting which makes them more comfortable when carrying heavy loads.
This wheelbarrow has been very reliable over the years. The fact is we very rarely carry heavy loads in it. In fact the only occasion I can recall when this wheelbarrow has really been put to the test was when we had 100 bags of stones delivered. They were dumped at the bottom of the drive and we had to move them all the way up the drive into the back garden, a distance of about 60 meters. To do this we used the wheelbarrow carrying 5 bags at a time. The bags were very heavy and the wheelbarrow dealt with them very well. I don't think I would have liked to add much more weight as you could tell it was near the limit, but it managed to carry the loads well and still remain controllable.
The main function we use this for is just moving around bits of trees, grass and soil. When you are walking with the wheelbarrow the wheel moves nice and steadily and does not wobble in any way. The whole thing has a very nice balance to it and it is easy to make turns.
When we first got this we kept it in the garage which seemed like the sensible thing to do. But since then we seem to have accumulated more and more stuff and so it has been kicked out the garage and now sits behind the garage out in the open. We tip it upside down so it kind of protects itself from the weather, but while it has been outside we have never really seen any serious signs of wear, it still works very well and has not rusted. I imagine the longer it is left outside the more likely it will be that it does rust, but so far so good.
This wheelbarrow cost us around £50 a few years back. I had a quick look online and it does seem to be around the £60 mark at the moment, but if you shop around you may find it cheaper somewhere. We have the silver version but it also comes in green, blue and even red which I think is quite funky for a wheelbarrow.
Overall then I would have to give this the thumbs up. We have had no problems with this product, it is very reliable and has always done everything you would expect a wheelbarrow to do. There are cheaper options available but for a good solid wheelbarrow that will last you along time you really can't go far wrong with this one.
Summary: An Excellent Product
