“ Brand: Parasene / Equipment Type: Aerator / Scarifier „
I love gardening and noticed the snowdrops were up the other day in the garden so thought that it may be time to try and get the garden ready for springtime when I can plant and move flower beds around and so venturing into the garden shed I dragged out all the things I needed to begin the job of getting the garden ready. I bought this Parasene 30cm Lawn Aerator from a garden centre in Hereford and I paid £29.99 for it in a clearance sale, but you can buy them for £39.95 and sometimes cheaper if you browse online but will have to pay the delivery charge. The Aerator comes in a large box and you have to assemble it yourself but this is easy to do and it comes with a leaflet and a diagram to follow, it will take you about ten minutes to figure it out and them your away to go. The guard on the back of the spikes protects you from getting your feet in the way of the long spikes, which are 30cm long so it's not the kind of garden tool you need to have laying around outside when there are children or pets playing out. I always remember to put mine away after using it as the grandchildren come here often and play in the garden. It's a push along one not a petrol one, so it's quite a manual job and will give you a good workout for your money. Some of my lawn is sloped and so in the bottom of the garden it is much harder to push than on the flat part, but it takes me about an hour to do the whole lawn, going down and up in lines to get an even overall airing to the lawn, The spikes stick into the ground and this helps the ground to dry off, in this time of the year the ground is very damp and wet in parts of the shaded area's in my garden and so it has to be drained. With this tool it helps to drain it easy, so that the grass can breathe and grow nicely for the spring. In the summer it is easier to go over the lawn to condition it for watering or feeding and brings out the best in your lawns condition. It gives great drainage and air circulation to the lawn and also is spring loaded so it's not too hard to push, the spikes sometimes drag up the dead grass when your going along which is good and helps to keep the lawn looking nice, but it's easy to clean as you just pull the guard off and pull any bits of grass out of the spikes. I would recommend you wear your gardening gloves to clean it with and once this is done put it away from the reach of children. If you want a good looking lawn then this is a great tool to have in your shed.
I had previously owned a cheaper version of this tool from the Argos for £19.99 and thought it would do the job really well but the problem was the fact it is designed to put holes in your grass every so often as you roller it up and down the garden, well when I first moved to my house there was a right mess in my garden, we levelled it as best we could and got out the large bricks but there are still some smaller bricks under the lawn and when a spike hit these it just would stop with a right jolt so when I saw this parasene one advertised as being spring loaded I thought this would eliminate that problem and paid £39.99 for it. The idea of using one of these is that it breathes life back into your lawn and with mine being laid on clay it needs all the help it can get to stay healthy, it comes boxed but is easy to assemble although the wheels were a bit difficult to get on but just needed some brute force and they were sorted, the handle is long so will suit tall people like my self really well, the guard on the back to ctop me accidentally being able to spike my feet is reassuring to have and it is relatively easy to push as it doesn't get stuck like my old one used to, having said that though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with shoulder or back problems as it does require you to give it a good push so may aggravate there injuries. It seems to be doing the job well and my lawn is still alive, I do find it a pain to clean it but like to clean all the dirt off it before putting it away so it doesn't rust or get clogged up, I only use it after each cut of the lawn so around every 3 weeks through the summer and not at all in winter and my grass looks lovely, I would recommend this to anyone with poor quality soil like mine.
The Parasene 30cm Lawn Aerator takes the hard work out of lawn aeration, breathing life into your lawn.
