I hate wearing gardening gloves I prefer to get my hands dirty feel the soil However if I am pruning my monster pyracantha with its fierce thorns , or attacking the brambles which I stupidly let free in my garden then I wear a pair .We have a pair of these B&Q ladies reinforced gardening gloves.

I have used these gloves for a couple of years now not only do they get used in my garden but for conservation work parties .

These are quite good gloves I have used others so I can compare them favourably to other gloves I have used.

Ladies you will not wear these gloves as a fashion accessory they do not look stylistic on. They are a base grey colour with green wrist and green on the backs of the fingers. The green is a slightly different fabric to the grey. The green is a bit softer
These gloves are long, have longish green fabric wrist guards. The palm of the glove is made from the slightly stronger grey suede the palm is the area where you I more protection as this is where I grasp the prickly branches.
This fabric is quite protective and I rarely get stabbed by thorns if I an wearing them only the really vicious ones will penetrate.. This grey suede is not so subtle, not so easy to bend. I guess that's why the green softer fabric is used on the backs of the 4 fingers and on the wrist cuff. The back of the finger tips is grey as is a strip around the knuckles..
When on the hand these gloves are quite stiff, I do not have fine finger control in them, could not undo a button easily.

My gardening gloves do get dirty with green stains I am reluctant to wash them I have washed others in the past and they seem to lose some protective qualities after.

Now I maybe a lady but I have fairly large hands and these gloves are only just big enough, However they do make a bigger men's size of the same glove .
I find these gloves adequate they are suitable for the purpose

You can buy these from the B&Q shop or on line at http://www.diy.com/diy.
These reinforced gloves cost £4.98

Summary: A reinforced pair of gardening gloves

The only trouble with getting your hands mucky is that all the neighbourhood cats tend to use my garden as a toilet! These sound good though for pyracantha etc.

Dave has the men's version but I really must treat myself to some of these for when I am sawing and chopping wood. My hands are covered in bruises and scratches. Susan (BTW you have a repeated paragraph towards the end of your review.)
