Advantages: Slim design is ideal for small spaces

Disadvantages: It's not cheap

You have very limited space but need some strong garden storage. Perhaps you have a tiny yard, or you want storage that is out of sight but only have a small sideway in which to locate something. The Keter Great Space Vertical Shed could be your answer. At over 6 foot tall but less than 3 foot wide this shed is perfect for small spaces and for storing your basic gardening tools etc.

The plastic shed comes flat-packed and is really easy to put together, requiring very little skill! Some strength is required to get the joints to bed home fully but no tools are required. It's just like a 3D jigsaw!

One of the biggest advantages of this store is the fact that the whole width of the shed is available for storage and the double doors open to reveal the full width of the store. This is particularly important where you have limited space. Our shed is located in a sideway which is about 3.5 foot wide. A wooden shed could be custom built but due to the need to have a frame upon which to hang the door the space available for opening would be closer to 2 foot. With the Keter we have almost 3 foot of opening and that opening is complete with the doors capable of opening just beyond the 90 degree angle.

The shed comes complete with a solid shelf that can be height adjusted according to your storage needs. Additional shelves can be bought, or, as we have done, self manufactured from left over wood! I find the store perfect for hand gardening tools, overwintering pots and storing small bottles of weed killer/plant food and the like. It is also possible to hang items from the doors but I've not found this necessary.

It would also be ideal for small outside toys but, without careful packing would be unsuitable for children's bikes etc.

The shed is sited on a strong plastic base and, as such, as long as you have a flat surface (a few paving slabs will suffice or a well flattened screed) then you will not need to lay a formal base. The shed, despite its height, is very sturdy and I've not worried about it being pulled over.

We've had this shed for around 5 years now and I can still say that it is in excellent condition. There has been some minimal discolouration to the beige elements but nothing that makes it look old and grubby. Being plastic it's easy to keep clean (although we don't wash it down more than once a year) and it doesn't seem to attract mosses or lichens (or the like). Being plastic the shed is very weather proof and we've had no issues with leaks or ingress of water.

The shed does not come with a lock but the fittings are there to attach a padlock. The design of the fittings seems to vary between stockists - we have plastic loops, other versions have metal loops. Either way you can easily secure the contents of your shed.

Unfortunately the compact size doesn't mean a compact price - it appears you pay more for small. Where a regular Keter shed will set you back less than £100 this slim-line shed (with less volume) will set you back around £110. However, due to the durability of these products and the difficulty in finding storage for narrow spaces I would heartily recommend this product.

Summary: A robust shed that fits small gaps!

For a minute there I thought I had finally found the answer to all the bikes cluttering up my garage :-(

I have one of these kitted out with shelves for all the stable gear. Really handy, but pricey as you say!
