Betterware Weeding Tool
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: could be longer
My auntie used to be a betterware lady, so there was always a catalogue in my house and in my parents home. All my family were always buying gadgets from her. To be honest I think they kept her in business! Whenever my mum came round to visit, she always bought me a seasonal product. Whether it was a spider catcher or cupboard tidy or garden implement, I was spoiled!
I love betterware and every time I read it, I always think, "Why didn't I think of that?" The wedding tool is such a helpful little gadget and is perfect for the tidy patio area that my garden has. I used to spend quite a bit of money on weed killer, which let's be honest, is a lot easier than this manual work; but it is far more expensive! Not only this, I am concerned that the weed killer is not safe for cats and I get lots in my garden and have one of my own. Having this tool puts an end to those sorts of worries.
*Price and availability*
I was given mine by my parents who got it from their Betterware catalogue. This was about a year ago and they paid around £3.50.
The tool is really simple in design and is lightweight and small to store. It measures around 20cm long. It is in effect an L shaped blade attached to an orange handle. This handle is moulded to the shape and contours of your hand and makes it really comfortable to hold. Attached to the handle is the steel blade.
The blade needs wiping after use as water could corrode the metal. It also helps keep the blade sharp ready for your next use. The blade is sharp so should be kept away from children.
The blade is perfect for getting in between the niggley little cracks and edges of paving stones. The tool slides down easily and cuts down weeds or pulls them out.
The design of the blade means you can get further down and use the angle of the blade like a lever to lift unwanted weeds out. It gets closer than you could ever get with your fingers but I think I could actually do with it being longer!
The handle is easy to hold and does not give my hands any irritation. It is non slip, so the tool stays in my grip and means if I can really push on and get to business without the worry of it slipping.
It works quicker than you think and it does not take long to cover a large area. This is good because it is not pleasurable being on your knees for that length of time!
I keep my gadget in my kitchen drawer and use it fairly regularly and try and keep on top of any problematic weeds.
