As you may have read from my previous reviews, I have been getting more and more into my gardening. I have really enjoyed the process of starting from scratch this year and getting the garden to look just like I have wanted it to. The latest tool that has been added to my collection is the Faithfull Edging Iron Figlas Shaft. This may sound a little bit of a mouthful but in fact the Iron is a really useful tool in the transformation of some of the borders and flowerbeds.


When it comes to buying these tools I am not great with what is a good price and what is a not so good price and so I always ask my parents advice before I start looking and researching and like a few of my garden items I have purchased this one from my local Homebase store. The garden Edging Iron was just £9.99 in there and after Mum and dad told me to expect to pay around the £20.00 mark I was really pleased. I have seen this brand about in many of the Garden Centres as well as the Range and Wilkinson's and all for quite a low price so it is worth looking out for one.


The first thing you will notice is the height of the tool, it stands at about 55 inches which I found to be a really good height for using and working around the garden with. The design of the product is quite simple, there is the Edging piece at the bottom followed by the tall handle and then there a horizontal handle that sits at the top. From the moment that I started using this tool I found the handles really easy to grip onto and a lot of the time I have used it whilst having my gardening gloves on.


The handle is a bright yellow colour and the handle at the top is black. I have found that it is really easy to put your foot onto the bottom and press down in order to start cutting out your borders and flower beds. It does not hurt your foot as the edge is quite smooth but you should have a god pair of shoes on though, Flip flops won't really help! (Been there and tried it!) The edger seems to cut really well but I would not say that the blade is that sharp so you get a really safe object but that has a great way of cutting at the same time.


We have really put this edger through its paces and it has proven to be a fantastic buy. The more I have used it the more you get used to how it works best; I have found that using it to cut works best at a slight angle. I have also used this to remove a couple of weeds from the edges of my slabs as it cuts through most things! It is also a lightweight tool when you are using it so another plus point!


In summary, I have been really pleased with this item and would have no hesitation in recommending it. It really is a great little item that works well. I think the price is great and you wont get one any better in my opinion.
