... uses the belt keeps slipping off and I've lost the will to live. And no, I'm not going to spend any more of my money on the ffing kit that supposedly rectifies this obvious design fault. This pile of junk is on a one-way ticket to the local tip. Avoid at all costs. If you see a neighbour with one, go out and beat it with a spade (the Flymo that is, not the neighbour)....more

I was attracted by the smaller brother of the Compact 400, the Compact 330, after my old 1000w rotary wheeled mower died. I had nipped to the local diy store to examine the different models. It appealed because of its 1600w motor, the sturdy wheels and handle, and it looked like it might not clog too easily. Because it was available under £100, the deal was clinched. My lawn was long after 10 days growth, and the 330 cut through it without even slowing down, even at fast walking speed. This was also the case on the lowest height setting, but that made the machine VERY hard to push over the grass, and still fairly hard where you had just cut! I ...

POWER COMPACT 400 Even its name has a sense of power about it, POWER, COMPACT, 400. What more do we need to know? Well for a start Flymo makes it the manufacturers of hover mowers. This however is a Flymo with wheels and the ability to stripe your lawns. A large cutting blade and a grass box that is centrally placed instead of being at the rear of the machine like most models. POWER: It has a 1700 watt motor that provides the power that drives the belt drive system which is especially useful in tough cutting conditions. This is a powerful engine for cutting your lawn and coupled with a blade length of 40cm you will find your lawns cut in next to ...

I bought this mower to replace my ageing Flymo Chevron 350S. Its handles were sloppy, grass bag split and, I thought, a bit long in the tooth. How about this spangly new one? A wheeled Flymo was what I wanted, sleek design, integral grass box, wide cut and a powerful motor. The cable is long and the way it attaches to the machine is excellent. What could possibly go wrong? The main problem is that it doesn't cut grass very well - which is a major drawback for a mower. Mostly it seems to push the grass over, at best with a sharpened blade it leaves a ragged cut. The length of the cut grass is variable and although most of the clippings go into ...
