Qualcast Elan 32 Cylinder Mower

A few weeks ago my Flymo Compact 300 gave up the ghost. I had only had this lawnmower for 2 years, and over the last few weeks, a crack started to appear in the main casing at the front. As I kept mowing, the crack developed into a rather large hole and a large chunk of it dropped off. One of the side clips had also "pinged" off, getting lost in the shrubbery, so I had tied this up with a strong plastic tie. As the model had a 5 year guarantee (parts), on ringing Flymo, I took it to my local dealer to be looked at. Yes, a sheep would infact have a far better cutting power than this feeble excuse for a lawnmower. I work at Homebase to get a bit of extra holiday cash, and I had seen this mower on display for a couple of weeks. When we were looking to buy a new one, we took home a couple of test models, this, and the flymo which I have also reviewed. Even my retro flymo, from 1985 mows the lawn better than this... it's pathetic! It took four or five sweeps over the same patch to get it even remotely well cut. I finally got rid of my Flymo hover mower that endlessly dumped large clumps of grass mulch over the lawn and opted to purchase an electric cylinder mower, the Qualcast Elan 32. When unboxed, the mower does require some simple assembly: (1) The handles need to be attached ? just by pushing some bolts through the handles and hand tightening. (2) The grass collection box needs to be carefully clipped together, once this is done correctly the box is quite firm.
