Advantages: last well

Disadvantages: ?

I was tidying my gardening equipment and finding my secatuers ready for the spring prune. Pair of secateurs that I own are Spear and Jackson large bypass secatuers.I like Spear and Jacksons tools they seem to be well made and last a long time.

These secateurs fit comfortably in my hand and I find them easy to use.
There is a catch on the handle that fits into a notch on the blade to open or hold the blade shut firmly.
The blades are a hardened steel blade Teflon coated to protect against rust. I use these to prune my overgrown hedges and roses they prune a stem of 20mm 3/4 inch fairly easily the sharp blade cutting through neatly. I also use them when taking cuttings.
These secateurs have a ten year guarantee, mine are several years old now and still cutting well with a good sharp blade

Spear and Jackson are an old firm that was started in 1760 by John Love from Sheffield he joined up with Alexander Spear from Wakefield in 1830 an apprentice Sam Jackson joined the Partnership and it became Spear and Jackson, as we now know it. This firm seems to sell reliable tools, and uses steel that Sheffield is famous for.
Spear and Jackson tools are available all over the world; you can buy them in garden centres, Garden tool shops or on line.
I would be happy to recommend these secateurs to anyone. You can buy them for between £15.00 and £20

Summary: sharp secatuers

My own pair (not this particular one), is still going strong after 10 years. LisaX
