Advantages: Lightweight, Sharp and effective blade, Coated For Rust Protection

Disadvantages: None

These garden shears are by Spear and Jackson who are a reputable brand in the gardenng world which i realised later after i bought these from a car boot sale.

The shears have an extended handle for very easy use cutting. The blades are made from carbon steel PTEE coated for rust resistance and smooth cutting. The length of the blade is around 23cm and also has a notch for cutting thick stems effectivly. The handles are made from aluminium making them light weight and easy to control, which is also wedged with a shock absorber.

Overall these extended handle Spear & Jackson shears are very useful around the garden. I mainly use them for the rose bush when its over grown. I dont know what else i can really say about these, they are good shears and havnt rusted since i bought them. As mentioned before i picked these up from a boot sale for only £2. Normally retail at around £15.

Summary: Good Garden Shears

Reply to comment: There light for me, depends on the strength of the elder person. Never heard of self lubricating hinges (Theres a can of WD-40 attached to it)Depends how much you use it ;o)

So how light weight are they? In your opinion do you think they could be used by older people? (i.e. are the handles suitable for gripping or moulded to fit general / average hands suitably) and are the hinges self-lubricating?
