Advantages: Easy to use, good grip on handle, rakes leaves up with ease without any damage to garden
Disadvantages: None that I have found
I have mentioned in my last couple of reviews that we have been doing quite a bit with our garden. This has involved tidying it up as when we moved into the property it was just a case of a lawn area and a patio. The tidy up began after Christmas really, and this was mainly clearing debris such as fallen leaves and twigs. My mum suggested that investing in a rake would be the way forward, seeing that every year we would need to complete the process seeing as we have trees and bushes all down the one side. After looking around we invested in a Wilkinson Sword Stainless Steel leaf rake.
I mentioned in my Wilkinson sword trowel review that I had heard of this brand and felt that investinging in a brand that I knew was the way forward. I paid £20.00 for the rake and I feel that this is a great price to pay. I got mine in my local Home base store but most gardening centres as well as high street stores and you can even order it off the internet.
The first thing that I noticed when I was buying this rake was that the handle on it was quite tall, I think this is a good idea as it stops you having to really bend over the rake to gather any pace or pressure. The handle I think is made from wood, I say this because the handle is coated in rubber, which I think is an excellent idea as it stops your hands from hurting but you can get a really good grip on it as well, when raking the leaved up it still tends to be chilly as well so I either have woolly gloves or gardening gloves on and yet you can still get a good grip on to the rake.
The bottom of the rake has been well thought through and allows you to really get a lot up as it covers quite a large surface area. The rake has a plastic component at the bottom so there seems to be quite a lot of flexibility in it so as you are getting up the leaves it seems to flow through them with ease and it makes the process really light and easy. I have never once used this rake and thought that the task has been heavy; I think the rake makes the process quite effortless as it has a light weight feel to it but yet it is also a hardwearing tool.
The rake is also has the stainless steel component at the bottom as well, so this makes it even more hardwearing. The whole design has been thought through really well. The spoke on the rake are quite sharp, sharp enough that they catch the leaves but not so sharp that they will leave the garden looking in any sort of mess, the spikes do cut up the garden a little as you can feel it as you work but there's never any real mess left afterwards. You do need to be a little careful when you are pulling leaves of the end but I have never had any accidents either!
In summary, I only have positive things to say about this rake, it is a great buy and I can see it being a long lasting one as well.
5 out of 5 from me
Thank you for reading
