Gatineau Serenite Delicate Make-Up Remover
by freud
A couple of years ago I bought quite a lot of Gatineau anti-ageing skin products from QVC & have mixed opinions about their range - some were great, some OK & all very expensive in my opinion.
I hasten to add this was well before the credit crunch & no way would I pay so much these days!
One of the ... lotions I bought is suitable for all skin types (ie not necessarily for old skin like mine) & is called Serenite & is described as a 'soothing make-up remover'. The 150ml bottle cost just under £9 & is the sort of product you don't mind leaving out on show as, like all Gatineau products, it's very stylish & expensive-looking.
The top just unscrews & you need to turn the bottle upside down to get the lotion out which is a bit awkward. Loads of items the range come in pump-dispensers but this one is the standard type.
When you unscrew the top the smell is lovely - fresh & clean-smelling (a little like fresh laundry) & the white lotion itself is a good consistency (about the same as baby lotion I'd say).
It's used in exactly the same way as other make-up removers - just pop a small amount on a cotton wool ball or pad & wipe away the make-up or grime - the effectiveness can be tested by examining the used pad!
It IS gentle on the skin & it DOES remove make-up well but when I thought I used a cleanser afterwards the pad revealed that it hadn't removed all my make-up even though I'd followed Gatineau's instructions carefully & thought I'd done a thorough job.
Apart from the fact it didn't do a particularly good job (considering the price) I don't like the way Gatineau list all their ingredients in their creams, lotions etc. Probably I wouldn't understand any of them but I would like to be able to read them if I wanted to but the print is minute - you'd need a magnifying glass to read them.

- very expensive - I've had better results with much cheaper products.
- smells lovely & is very gentle on the skin leaving it soft.
- doesn't remove all the make-up however thoroughly/ carefully you use the lotion.

Gatineau Strategie Jeunesse Throat Gel Firming
by dosolivos
One of Gatineau´s best! OK ladies... if you are like me and thought your neck would NEVER look "like that", i.e. lined, similar skin to the sunday roast bird... and then it started. This is the product for you! A lightweight gel which you apply with UPWARD motions from the bust (this depends on you sagging level, or your ... economic level!) all the way up to the chin, covering entire throat from front to back. It is extremely pleasant to use, cooling and firming which you can feel working a few minutes after application. The gel has a pleasant, fresh smell and is absorbed really quickly. It is a "serum" but specifically for the neck and decollete area. Always remember to apply your normal day-night neck cream on top and always that SPF during the day. It is not cheap, but you only use very little, plus deals can be found if you hunt around. Gatineau also supplies a "loyalty" points programme with their products and you can save up points and get free products - but it does take a lot of products! I have tried many neck products, and this is definately my favorite. Read the complete review |

Gatineau Melatogenine Day & Night Cream
by freud
After having hit the menopause (hard!) I was forced to take drastic action as far as my poor old face was concerned.
I took a long, hard look in a magnified mirror & just couldn't believe the deep wrinkles staring back at me - no longer could I say these were 'laughter' lines - they were deep wrinkles which made me look ... really old.
This was a while ago when I had some spare money in the bank (ha! - those days are long gone!) so I decided to invest some in a skin-care range geared towards those with ageing skin.
I was seduced by a presentation on QVC which featured Gatineau products for the skin & amongst the products was this Melatogenine day & night cream which looked like the miracle cream I was looking for.
It cost around £50 but the jar (not tube as in the photo) is 1.7oz which lasts for AGES.
It came in a box with full instructions & the jar itself is very stylish with a silver top - what you'd expect from a top-of-the-range skincare range.
The cream itself has a very light fragrance which soon disappears when gently rubbed into the skin. It's a nice texture & is absorbed easily into the face & neck.
I use it morning & evening as directed & kept examining my face to see if the wrinkles were disappearing - sadly not.
I continued to use for about 12 weeks but didn't notice any visible difference.
I gthen changed to a cheaper skincare range & put the Gatineau Day & Night cream in a drawer where I forgot about it until a couple of weeks ago.
I resurrected the jar & started to re-use & I must say that this time I have noticed that my skin feels softer & that maybe some of the really deep wrinkles have started to diminish a little?
I have stopped examining my face everyday as it's too depressing but I believe that this has made some difference, although not as dramatic as I'd hoped.

- very expensive day & night cream which MAY make some difference to deep-set wrinkles?
- not the miracle-cure I was looking for - maybe I should have bought Polyfilla instead? Read the complete review |
