Advantages: Comfortable, Cheap

Disadvantages: In really soaking condition you'll still experience some slippage issues

Anyone who has played golf in damp conditions will know that trying to keep hold of a club with a wet grip can be a tricky task. I once played golf in the rain with a chap whose club flew from his grasp mid-round - it soared through the air sixty or seventy yards before landing in a bush. The chap in question was obviously rather embarrassed, but nevertheless it was a hilarious moment (I guess you had to be there!). It's important then to invest in an all-weather glove - a glove which not only keeps your hand dry, but also *reduces* the possibility of the aforementioned embarrassing incident.

Buying an all weather glove doesn't take that much of an investment, as Dunlop's rain friendly little number is currently available to buy for only £3.99 from Sports Direct - but is it any good?

Design & Appearance

Made from a synthetic leather, the glove is white in colour with black and red trim. It's available in small, medium, and large, and there is a version for left handed players (to be worn on the right hand). The glove is comfortable to wear, and fastens with a large velcro tab. I've gone through a number of these gloves in my time, and with one or two rounds of golf per week, they should last between four and five months. Usually a patch on the palm and around the fingers begins to wear thin after this time, making the normally water-resistant glove perform not so well when the heavens open.

How good is the glove?

In terms of the glove's quality, it works perfectly well in dry conditions (as you would expect), providing a nice and solid grip on the club. In light drizzle, the glove works well too - here, I'm confident that I won't face any slippage during my swing - although, this also depends on the quality of your golf club's grips. In totally wet conditions the glove is a bit of a mixed bag - although in fairness most are. I can honesty say that even the priciest top-branded gloves can't guarantee the golfer total confidence when faced with sopping wet grips. What I can say is that the glove is certainly better than Dunlop's standard glove in the wet, and similarly, I didn't find too much difference between it and Callaway's more expensive all-weather offering.

A golf glove which is suitable for rainy conditions really is a must in this country - and overall, Dunlop's all-weather golf glove is a comfortable, reasonably effective, and affordable item; I'm happy to award it four out of five doyoo stars.

Summary: Good glove for light moisture
