Intro

Obviously when I first took up golf, I wanted to ensure that I was interested in it and enjoyed playing before I went out and spent all my pocket money on some clubs and all the equipment needed. I played with my Grandpa, who had just upgraded his clubs from these Ping Eye 2's. He therefore said I could have them until I get settled into the sport. What an introduction they were, and I loved playing with them every time, and really developed my interest into the sport of golf.


The Eye2's

Firstly, as you can tell from these reviews on the product, these clubs are dated now. My grandpa has sinced passed away but the clubs are still in pristine condition in my garage, after he had played with them for 2 years and me for about the same time again. What this does tell you, is that quality always shows.

Ping are a really established brand, they make quality products time and time again, ranging from clothing to clubs, so you really can be sure that if you make a large investment into their products, that they are going to see you through.

The Eye 2's in their day were great clubs. The best thing about them was the sweet spot, it was fantastically large. This meant that if you were only really learning how to play golf and shanked the occasional shot then you would most probably get away with it. Obviously the ball would not travel as far, but at least it would go in the right direction.

I remember the downside was that they were fairly dismal in wet conditions. I think this was because of the grips being used a lot, or possibly down to me being a poor wet golfer, failing to adjust my grip accordingly, but I always used to have bad rounds with them. I know that they were a good few years old, which might explain it, and might be harsh on the clubs, but I was looking for a downside and it was the only real thing that made me uneasy about ever playing with them.

You could pick these up really cheaply now, which if you are on a budget would be a great option. Buy a set of these over a budget set of new clubs.
