Great for Liverpool fans, and amateur golfers!

My partner has taken up golf over the last year and occasionally drags me along to play. When he recently upgraded to a new set of clubs he sold some of his old set to a friend but kept a few back to me including a driver! To say thank you I bought him a super cool new golf head cover for his new expensive driver!

I can't remember how I first spotted it but I had been eyeing up this particular Liverpool golf head cover for months. Alex is a huge Liverpool fan and it was just so cute! It is "Little Liver" - the Liverpool mascot; a liver bird. In fact it's more like a cuddly teddy than a golf head, even in size (it's around 5 times bigger than a driver head). It's big and soft, complete with wings, a big yellow beak and a Liverpool FC badge. I noticed that the Liverpool website was selling it as official merchandise at the full price of £19.99 but I found it for £16.33 and free delivery on Amazon.

I was concerned that as a one-size fits all golf head that it might be too tight or too loose but it turned out to be perfect. However, it doesn't sit fantastically and the bird kind of falls a little to the left but with the size and shape of the cover this wasn't surprising. It protects the golf club head and means there is no more banging against other clubs while riding along in the golf cart which is something we had noticed previously.

As an official LFC licensed produce I have faith in its durability and over the last 6 months it has been pretty good. I've washed it a couple of times with similar colours and it has come out just fine and the shape hasn't altered which I was half expecting. The only issue I've found is that when you are playing a wet round it soaks up rain quickly and needs ringing out but as I said, it's good as new after a quick wash and mud sponges off quite easily.

It looks really great on the set of clubs and complements Alex's red golf bag well. The set spend most of their time in the house anyway, sitting in our spare bedroom so it's quite a nice thing to see when I'm in the room - otherwise a set of golf clubs out in my house would bother me! I was surprised that he wanted to take it out on the course with him; I had thought it might be a little embarrassing for a 26 year old to have what looks like a cuddly toy sat on his golf bag. Anyway, he loves it and when I'm out playing with him I generally put it on my one driver anyway because I like to use it!

I'd like to point out that neither Alex's or my own scores have improved since I bought this Liverpool head cover, nor do I expect them to from our outing last week. However, this golf head is wonderful to look at, a great conversation starter on the course and is a great novelty item. The product comes highly recommended but it loses a mark for being so ridiculously expensive. I know branded merchandise can cost a lot but for a golf head cover this was far too much and obviously would only appeal to Liverpool fans. As a Manchester City fan this wouldn't be my first choice but now that I don't see Liverpool as competition I don't mind putting it on my driver just because it's quite fun! It's a fantastic gift idea for a Liverpool-supporting golf enthusiast which obviously excludes many other people. However, many other football clubs have similar items which are worth a look.
