==Meridian 3 Iron club 5-7 Years==
My other half has gradually gotten the taste for golf and started off going to the local pitch and put course and has now graduated to becoming a fully fledged member of the Shanklin & Sandown Golf club. At first I was okay about it but it has seemed to take over his life somewhat and more recently it has affected our 5 ½ year old by the fact that he has been wanting to join in with his daddy!
I suppose I should be supportive of both of their new found hobbies seeing as it gets them out the house in the fresh air and it could be worse, my other half could be in the pub! However the golf obsession does seem to be an expensive one for not just my other half but now also my little Jack. He has needed a set of clubs and of course a little pair of shoes to go out and play both on the course and at the driving range.
Luckily enough most of the clubs we have bought from Jack have come from eBay or other sites which sell second hand goods and we have been able to pay a lot cheaper price than they would have cost were they at the full RRP. Of course there are not too many places that you can find an array of child sized clubs although the shop at the driving range does have a small stock and also Sports Direct do cater for golf players although the child sizes are not always as small as this 5-7 year age range.
One of Jack's clubs that we purchased for him was this Meridian 3 iron. It is a right handed club and to be fair neither me or the other half had heard of the Meridian made before so it is not a popular golf brand for adults but looking on second hand sites there are quite a few meridian clubs so maybe it is more for child's golf items.
We paid a mere £6 for this golf club which included the postage and packaging and having had a little look online I can see that you would look to pay around the £16 were you to purchase the club in a new condition. I think for the amount of time that Jack will probably be using the club we have made a good purchase at this price and the condition was tip top.
The 3 iron is slightly longer than all of Jacks other iron clubs (as it should be). It is probably one of the hardest clubs for him to use because of this and the fact that the head has only a slight angle to it means that it will direct the ball straight across the field without too much height. Because it is the hardest club to use these days people will usually have a club called a utility club rather than a 3 iron. However considering Jack is still learning and trying to use and get used each club he will keep trying with the club especially when at the driving range although he doesn't feel comfortable when doing so and will much prefer to use his 5 wood.
All in all I think that although we got this club at a cheap price it is probably one of the least used clubs in Jacks cute little golf bag. It is not a very popular club to use and he could have probably done without it. If you are looking at buying clubs for junior golfers of the 5 to 7 age range this is probably a club that the set could do without and this wouldn't hurt the knowledge of the game.
I will rate this club with a score of 3 out of 5 . It was cheap and is a well made little club with a graphite shaft and comfortable rubber grip for his small little hands but the club itself is not one really needed in his bag so I will only slightly recommend it as well.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
