Advantages: Portable, Cheap, on your phone

The Garmin Mobile XT mobile software provides GPS software and maps for use on your mobile phone. After recently Upgrading my phone I was in the market for a satnav for my car, when I discovered that I could spend a similar amount of money and get software to turn my mobile into a GPS making it much more portable.

The software retails for around £40 online for the UK/Ireland version and around £120 for the full European maps.

The software was extremley easy to set up on my Nokia phone, and unlike other phone models I did not have to purchase a separate bluetooth gps receiver, as my phone has built in assisted GPS (agps) which uses phone networks as well as satellite info to calculate its position.

I have used this sofware hundreds of times to get to places and it has never once failed me. I have uploaded the speed camera database, but like everyone, I dont break the speed limit. As the software is on your mobile, it can also be used if you are walking back from a night out, if you cant remember where you live.

Overall a great buy, well worth the investment.
