For advanced cyclists, the Edge 305 comes packaged with either a heart rate monitor or wireless speed/pedaling cadence sensor to provide valuable feedback. In addition, the Edge 305 incorporates a barometric altimeter for extremely accurate elevation and vertical profile data. The Edge 305 with heart rate lets you see whether you are training too hard or not enough. The heart rate monitor uses a robust wireless technology that eliminates cross-talk and interference and sends heart rate data to the Edge via a soft, comfortable chest strap. This data is stored with each track point for post-workout analysis.

Overall The Garmin Edge 705 is more than a bike computer. It is a full satellite navigation system for a bicycle. It does not have the ability to "tell" you where to go by voice but it does show you what turnings to take on a small map. At first glance the Edge 705 looks really stylish and impressive. It is larger than the previous models, the 205 and 305, but this is to be expected since it has a large 44mm x 35mm colour screen. Why I chose the Garmin Edge 205 Being a bit of a gadget freak I stumbled across one of these on a cycling accessories website but instantly dismissed it because of its price tag of £149.99.
