very good and reliable sat nav

I have a terrible sense of direction so it's really lucky for me that I have such a reliable and easy to use sat-nav! Although a sat-nav is never a cheap thing to buy, I do not feel that this is unreasonably priced. I expect as the technology becomes more advanced a simpler system like this will become cheaper and obsolete, but it has all the features you need. When you're picking a destination you can 'go home' where the sat-nav will find the best route back to your home postcode from wherever you might be (although for security reasons it's suggested by some experts that you do not program in your home address to your sat-nav), you manually enter a postcode or street name and the computer will find the address for you or you can pick from one of the pre-programmed options. Hotels, food outlets, theme parks, museums and all manner of other things have their addresses handily pre-entered into Garmin sat-navs, very useful if looking for something to do in a strange place, or even just somewhere you've not been before near home! As well as voicing instructions of which way to go (the volume of which can be adjusted) there is a handy animation of the car and diagrams of the next direction. This is really useful for working out which way you want to be heading, as sometimes the verbal directions may be a little misleading or out of time. The sat-nav also keeps track of your speed, the current speed limit and will warn you if you're going too fast. I have found that my Garmin sat-nav has excellent signal reception. I live in a rural area with many small roads and bridleways etc that other sat-navs either loose signal on or simply don't know they exist! I have never had such a problem.

Excellent range of features for the price

I recently purchased the Gaviman 1310 in the sale of a high street electrical retailer. As someone who has never owned a sat nav before I found the item extremely easy to set up. There was a quick set up guide in the box that gave me just enough information for me to be able to progam in my first journey. The help function on the sat nav is easy to find as gives information on the other things that you would want to set up. It has a Home feature that once programmed means you simply touch that you want to go home from wherever you are and the sat nav automatically programs the journey for you. There are all the features that you might want to find, e.g. points of interest. The sat nav found the satellite very quickly so there was no hanging around before making the journey and the holder is easy to fit and is not secured to one car so is easy to use if you have more than one car. Overall I am very happy with this product.
