Garmin nuvi 215
Advantages: cheap, a lot of features, small, quick menu interface
Disadvantages: sometimes hard to follow, can seem dodgy and stupid at times but rarely
This was the first sat nav I have bought and used (I think its this model anyway). You can pick one up at around £100 or less and it comes with all the basic features you need and even has bluetooth connectively for you mobile phone!
Using this sat nav for the 8/9 months has been ok I would say. There are times that it will say its re calculating even though we followed the directions properly, common routes we use sometimes change although this could be the traffic avoidance system kicking in (how would I know?), Instructions are usually clear but for a first time user, some exits off a motorway are confusing when listening to the sat nav, only when you have made a mistake do you realise what it meant.
You can search for places near by such as restaurants, petrol stations etc which is really handy although I am unsure how up to date it is, or even how to update the system anyway. I wish you could see lanes on the motorways as this will help distinguish exits quicker, but for £100 you get what you pay for.
Its a small and as said, has a lot of functions for a budget sat nav, it has a fairly quick response time when navigating the menu and the built in bluetooth is a good feature for those of you who require it. It will connect to your phone automatically after initial set up every time you turn it on.
For £100 its a good budget sat nav, personally I think I should have spent a bit more for a Tom Tom but this will do the job and with google maps on my phone too, I shouldn't ever get lost!
Summary: A good budget sat nav with good features and quick user interface
