Garmin nuvi 255T ... North America or Europe. Like the rest of the compact nüvi 2x5-series, this portable navigator is priced right and ultra-easy to use.

nüvi 255 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with turn-by-turn voice directions, 2-D or 3-D maps and and smooth map updates as you navigate. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain. In addition, nüvi 255 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. With HotFix satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.

Like the rest of the nüvi 2x5-series, nüvi 255 sports a sleek, slim design and fits comfortably in your pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or foot. With its "Where Am I? " emergency locator, you always know your location. Simply tap the screen to get your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and fuel stations.

What a great little device... This is another version of the ever so popular tom tom. This version is around the same price and just as good. The navigation system is pretty small and is silver in colour. It is not square, and is slightly oblong. The sat nav screen attaches to your window by a suction method, you can tilt and turn this to your desire The navigation system is in colour and displays the map in 3d for you to find your way. On the front screen there is an estimated time of arrival and how many metres you need to go before your next turn off. At the top of the screen are written instructions of the next turn off. After much research I found the traffic alert facility is free for life on Garmins and the reviews on their systems seemed good, so I ordered a Garmin nuvi 300T on Amazon which was the cheapest price I found (£179). The T after it means this one comes with a separate traffic alert bit…but more of that later! On opening the box, the system is very small and light (about the size of playing cards) so great for pockets etc. It comes with a free carrying case, plus USB cable, and in car charger; which other systems often force you to buy as extras. Being a first time SAT NAV user I found both the Price and the ease of use to be amazing. I tried the Garmin nuvi 310 in my local Staples store, and the manager allowed me to enter post codes to search by, and get a true feel for the product. When you submit the post code / address you want to go, you can press the detor option, incase of road problems and it gives your a secondary route (if avaliable). As with all SAT NAV s it gives you the average speed and the estimated time it thinks you will be at your destination.
