Advantages: Helps you find where your going....

Disadvantages: Won't find your friends Brand new house without updates!

I was looking for a half decent Sat Nav that wouldn't break the bank, I searched Ebay and came across the Mio C250, to be honest I had never heard of them, but the price was in my budget and the description sounded good, so I made my purchase. I received the bright orange box and unpacked it, it looked good, Sat Nav, Charger, Instructions and disc for updating the software.

I charged it up and loaded the software onto my then laptop, whilst charging I decided I would make sure that it was up to date, this is when I encountered my first problem, my laptop had only 264mb processor and this required 512mb so I couldn't update - Gutted!

Anyway, away from that, it has several features that can be changed according to requirements, for example, you can change it to car, walking, taxi, bus, lorry, emergency so could be quite handy for all walks of life.

You can also set the route for fastest, shortest and most econimical.

You can also set it to include or not, if desired, unpaved roads, motorways, ferries, U-turns, permit needed, toll roads and cross border planning.

You can also set the Mio so that it records your journey.

Its very simple to use, use the touch screen and pick a city, type in the street name, type the number of house, click route to and thats it, your on your way. You can even use the fly over setting, so that you can see the route that you will be taking.

Or you could use the itinerary setting to see a written description of the route you will be taking.

You can change the screen colour to suit your requirements, for example several settings for daytime and nightime use, this way you do not have bright lights at night that could effect your vision.

Overall, apart from the glitch with the updates, (which isn't really the Mio' fault) I would recommend this Sat Nav for general use and perfect for the GPS Virgin that I was.

Can be bought from Ebay, Direct from Mio and at other electrical retailers.

Prices range from £130.00 - £190.00

Summary: Cheap Cheerful Sat Nav Starter
