Let me start off by stating that I do not own this product, I have been product testing it for about a week now and wanted to share my views on it.

Navigon are not one of the leading brands in Sat Nav, and therefore are not as widely recognised as your usual Tom tom or Garmin units. However, after using this unit for a while now, and others in their brand, I believe that it will only be a matter of time before people are as familiar with this brand as they are with Tom tom.

Firstly the price of this is very attractive, at only around £60 it is extremely competitive in this current market, and offers a few features that other units dont for a lot less money.

For the £60 you get UK mapping, speed cameras, and a feature that not many units have at the moment-lane guidance. The lane guidance is very handy when on the motorway, instead of getting your usual 'bear left' or 'bear right' instruction, the screen zooms in and shows you excatly which lane you need to be taking which is a huge help when you have multi-lanes on a motorway.

The user interface is very easy to use, and again is similar to more well known units. You will press the same amount of buttons to get between the menus, and the postcode search allows you to type in a full postcode, or an address, depending on which one you know. Although I have been using lots of different Sat Navs, I find this one very simple, which isnt usually the case with cheaper units.

The mapping display is also very impressive. You have your normal 3D or 2D views, combined with the turn instruction in the bottom right, the speed indicator in the top left, the name of the road in the bottom, and also the vocal instruction, meaning that there is no reason to be taking the wrong turn. However, if you do, it will simply re-route you back onto your original route at the next easiest point. I find the display very easy to read, some can be quite complicated, but this gives a clear instruction as to which road you should be following, espicially with the lane guidance.

The unit itself is very sleek. It is only a 3.5inch screen but this allows it to be transported very easily, and it is very slim so can be put in a pocket and carried around. I do find though that as the unit looks so well designed, the mount is a bit of a let down. It is very bulky, and like older units uses a thumbscrew to adjust the angle of the unit whereas most nowadays use ball joints which are quicker, easier, and generally look nicer. This is only a tiny niggle with otherwise a very good Sat Nav.

In the box you get the windscreen mount, an in car charger, and a USB cable, so if you wanted a carrycase that would have to be an extra, but you do get the essentials to use it in your car.

Overall I would reccommend this as a very good alternative to the TOmtom one, or the Garmin Nuvi 205, as it is about £40 less and works to the smae high standard.
