Advantages: New technologies incorporated, looks nice, works well

Disadvantages: None

I recently purchased a Tom Tom 3rd edition Great Britain edition, and have used it continually since. It features a complete set of maps for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and is one of the first traffic tom toms to feature TMS traffic automatic updates and map share. In this review I will give you my opinion on it.

In the box I found the actual device, a power cable, a holder, usb cable and a manual. I found everything about the device very easy to set up, the first boot took around 30 seconds and entering my personal options and home address did not take very long.

The device itself is very compact and light, but manages to feature a 3.5 inch touch screen. The screen is easy to see and does not reflect sunlight like some other sat navs. It is easy enough using the touch screen, it is quite sensitive.

Typing in an address is also easy to do. There are a few ways to enter an address. These are postcode, name, or other address details. The gadget automatically stops you from entering in a letter that cannot possibly go next, this system is fantastic and prevents me from typing in a whole address only to find out that I have missed one letter.

Once an address has been selected its load time is around 15 seconds, depending on where you have typed in. This is around an average speed for a sat nav and I do not have any complaints.

Tom tom have included two new technologies inside their new system. The first is TMS traffic update, this automatically updates the traffic news on roads and colour codes them accordingly, surprisingly this works and has helped me out in some tricky situations. The second technology to be included is map share, this allows owners to remotely update their sat nav if they have a problem with the map, this proves tricky however on the touch screen and I suggest that you download updated maps from Tom Tom online instead.

I think that the sat nav looks nice, as many Tom Toms do. This can be very important with sat navs as you do not want a big fat clunky piece of rubbish ruining your dashboard, and I do not think the sat nav disapoints here.

Supplied as mantioned earlier are full maps of great britain, and nothing else. All the maps are up date and so far I have not become lost at all. And normally it succesfully chooses the correct path for me to follow.

All in all I think that this is a great little piece of kit. It performs well, boots quickly and looks very nice. And at £127 is a brilliant bargain.

Summary: Brilliant
