Having being someone who was more used to having an A to Z in his glovebox I decided to dip my toes into the purchase of a sat nav system. I spent quite a while researching which 1 to go for an opted to go for the Tomtom V3. It is a crackin piece of sat nav equipment and hasn't let me down yet. It does have a couple of niggly things but these are easily overcome. I have been all over the country with this and not once have I ended up stuck or lost.

I would recommend joining the mapshare scheme if you haven't already as this is a very handy update for your Tomtom. I also purchased the safety camera updates as I had a discount voucher when I purchased my unit and I have to say that this is also very very good, no points yet touch wood! I have my camera alerts set to around 30 seconds which gives you ample time and I haven't come across a location yet that wasn't already in there.

The only 2 niggly things I have are as follows: Firstly I have a weird high pitch noise coming from my speaker, however you can't hear it unless you get really close and are quiet. And secondly it doesn't have a memory card slot like the earlier ones which is a shame as it would be nice to have the option to put other maps on there like the XL version. I'm not too bothered though as I am highly unlikely to go driving abroad, and the noise can't be heard if you're talking or have the stereo on.

I wouldn't let these 2 things put you off though as this unit is very reliable and is a cracking investment if you happen to do a lot of travelling to different places.

Summary: Well worth the investment!
