Advantages: Will navigate you around the UK hassle free

Disadvantages: An older version, still at quite a high price

This unit is about a year old now, maybe a little bit more and you may see it called a tomtom one classic now. If the price quoted on here is the price you would pay then it really is too expensive for a unit which is quite outdated, instead the money would be better spent on the newer version.

That said, if this unit can be found relatively cheaply then it is more than adequate fro the job of navigating you around the UK and Ireland. You can also update the software so it is level with the newer version for free, and thrrough mapsharing, you can update the units maps so they are almost the same as the newer one.

This unit is quite small so easy t carry around with you or put in a briefcase or a handbag and looks quite smart too.

It is limited in terms of features and is the entry level unit from tomtom. It has UK and Irish mapping, full postcode search, turn by turn instructions and also fixed speed camera locations. Every other unit has these features plus a few more.

As said, the unit is simple to use, you enter the postcode and click to navigate then you are on your way. The screen appears as shown in the picture so is very clear and easy to read, added to this the vocal turn by turn instructions you willfind it almost impossible to go wrong. If you do then it will re-route you back onto your route.

If you dont like how this unit operates then you may aswell ignore the tomtom range as a whole, as every unit operates in this way and the mapping screen looks the same. For somebody who wants a bit of help navigating through the UK then this unit will definatly do the job for you. I ahev never found that finding a GPS signal is a problem and it will usually be ready to navigate within a few minutes.

My only real downside to this unit would be the mount. It is a suction mount yet has not way of 'locking' the suction onto the screen, and relys on you pushing it as hard as you can to form the suction. This would be extremely hard for older people or people with arthiritus, as when I do it, the unt will still somtimes fall off. This is a bad design as it could damage the unit's screen purely because the mount is not adequate.

Overall I believe that this unit is a good unit to get you around the UK and Ireland, if you can find it fr a decent price. If you are looking at around £100 for this, you may aswel buy the version 4 which operates the same, is just more updated and has a more adequate mount.

Summary: Only buy this if you can find it at about £80ish, if your looking towards £100 the buy the new one
