Advantages: Built in bluetooth hands free facility
Disadvantages: Can be delays to update the software through the Tom Tom website
We purchased the Tom Tom One XL a couple of months ago and are very pleased with it and glad we got it.
We went for this make because we had heard a lot of good things about Tom Tom, and so we browsed the range and decided to go for the One XL mainly as the screen is larger and widescreen, and because it has added functionality such as the Hands Free Bluetooth mobile phone connection.
Having moved to a new area and being unfamiliar with the region, this Tom Tom has really helped us out to find our way round. It is easy to use with the touchscreen options and you could easily figure it out without reading a user manual. The maps are easy to see and understand, and there are different voices that you can set to read the directions.
The bluetooth aspect to it has saved us the need to purchase a seperate hands free kit for the car. In a simple set up, your mobile phone automatically connects to the Tom Tom via bluetooth and then offers a touch screen call answering/making system using the Tom Tom's built in speaker. This is fantastic and very useful.
Overall we are very happy with the Tom Tom. The only downsides are that we have had delays updating the maps/software when connecting to the Tom Tom website and also the volume is not so loud on the speaker when taking handsfree calls and driving on the noisy motorway for example. Other than that it is great and we would not be without it!
Summary: Great screen size, great graphics, easy to use - great addition to any car!
