Advantages: Does what it says on the tin, easy to use and reliable

Disadvantages: No sd card slot for further mapping

This is a slightly more upgraded version on the entry level units supplied by Tomtom. The unit has everything that the entry level one does(tomtom one version 4) with the inclusion of european mapping and also a larger screen, making it easier to see in those cars which have a bigger slope on their windscreens.

Firstly this is a review for the current version, which will be seen as version two or four, both of which are the same unit and not the first one whch is version one.

The reason I state this is because there is a slight difference in the mounting system used between the two. The current one uses an incorporated mount, meaning that the mount can stay attatched to the unit and folded against the back of it. This then fits neatly into the carry case which is an extra to the cost of the unit. This is much better than the old one as it is a lot less combersome and also is a lot stronger when attatching it to the screen.

The actual operation of the unit is very good and simple. I think that if you find this difficult to use then you will find any sat nav hard to use. It is simply a case of pressing a few buttons before entering your postcode and then you are ready to navigate! I have had the odd occasion wherby it doesnt recognise my postcode but by putting the address in it is fine. I

I have only used it in England so have not yet taken it abroad, but have heard from many people the it operates as efficiently in europe as it does in th UK, only it doesnt work on postcodes and you have to be putting the address in instead.

The unit has very clear spoken instructions and a nice big clear screen to view your turns on.

It has no extras such as bluetooth or traffic information, although there is a traffic version avaiable at a slightly more expensive cost(typically about £20 more) However, I think that for around £150 this is a very good, reliable unit that will navgate you around the UK and europe largely without fail. I think that if you do not need european mapping then go for just the UK version, but as there is no SD card slot it would be impossible for you to upgrade the unt to european maping, so make sure you are certain that the level of mapping is right for you.

Summary: Generally a good unit, just ensure that it has the right features for you
