XFX GeForce 7900 GT ... have had the XFX 7900GT (250mb) for 1.5 years and have been very satisfied. The 7900GT is said to be the best of the Geforce 7xxx series cards in terms of the price/performance ratio. It s a good gaming card which, despite not being directx 10 compatible, can play most games out there (with the exception of Crysis) on medium to high settings with decent frame rates. A note: I mostly play first person shooters which are the most demanding on PC hardware. My computer setup is as follows: AMD athlon 3500+ 2Gb ram XFX Geforce 7900GT 80Gb 7200rpm HDD, 500gb 7200rpm external HDD So, not even close to top-end, yet enough to satisfy most gaming needs. Advantages: Cheap, reli... Read the full review: Excellent midrange card by zwl20 |

EVGA e-GeForce 8600 GT ... would recommend this graphics card for a mid range or media centre computer system. Theres always alot of debate about what the best and most powerful graphics card on the market is, and they are usually £200+. Just because this item costs just a little over £40 doesnt mean that it can do 90% of what the ones 5 times the price can do. The bottom line is that this graphics card will play all new games on at least medium graphics settings, and will playback HD content (providing the rest of your PC is also suitable), at reasonable monitor resolutions. That means anything under 19inch, or a HD ready LCD TV (which you would almost certainly be using on a media centre compu... Read the full review: Brilliant budget-mid range card by codename8778 |

XFX GeForce 7900GS ... 7900GS was in it s prime, one of the best cards around, although nowadays it is dwarfed in performance by 8800GTs and GTX 280s (the latter having in theory 10 times the power of this card). What must not be forgotten is that we do not in general need this power, for my 7900GS coupled with an E2180 processor, both at stock speeds, plays TF2 at 1920x1440 highest quality with no problems, it has played oblivion at 1280x1024 highest quality, and we are only now beginning to see it s limits. for example, it has not got the power to play some modern games at their highest resolution, or the memory to handle anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, it causes frame rates to d...
