Newer games will not run smoothly with Anti-aliasing and Antistropic Filtering on, and some effects will need to be turned down to maintain an acceptable frame rate, however, it runs the games well if you're not too bothered about graphics...

richard_richard 3dfx Voodoo5 5500
... Voodoo 5500 is a high powered graphics card designed for use in personal computers. I have owned this card for about a 2 years, and have found it to have made a very decent improvement to the speed and resolution levels on my computer. At the moment I am running it on an old 450Mhz machine and am about to swap the card over to a newer 2.4Ghz PC, so I?m hoping that I should see improved performance levels on this computer too. I bought the card for £99 from a local computer supplier and understand that this was a pretty good price to pay as it had originally been selling for closer to £200! This card is no longer manufactured as I believe that 3dfx Interactiv...

... to contact the manufacturer for any issues I may have, which is Powercolor, and I am afraid they don't offer a lot of service, and in particular no 3 year warranty. It was a good card as long as it was working, outperforming pretty much any other card in the price segment, including later ATI Radeon cards (!), also featuring 64 MB, VGA, DVI and TV out, dual monitor support in Windows (not in Linux though). I won't qote the card's specs here in detail. Now I know that the price advantage was for a reason. It did some good service for 2 years. I would have expected a longer life though. Be warned, "Powered by Ati" is not ATI! If you want a ...

fluffkin Sapphire Radeon 9100
... Ok, first up, I got a Crucial Radeon 9100 128MB AGP, but there wasn't anywhere to enter the info. I guess they are very very similar, mines got S-Video, DVI and regular VGA outputs, pretty soon I'll try the DVI to VGA convertor and have dual screen display (yay!). The Reasons: I had a Geforce 2 MX 200, nice card in it's time but now sadly outdated. I'm a budget buyer... My target purchase was £50, I blew it, this one with P&P was £65... Oh well... The Goodies: Worked like a charm straight out of the box. 4 times quicker than the old GeForce2 MX 200, (Which means a LOT! Think about it, 6 frames per second vs. 24 frames per second for the grotty...
