3dfx Voodoo3 2000 ... me start by saying that my old 166 used to be TERRIBLE. Now, with the addition of my 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 PCI, it has been miraculously transformed into a super system. It runs quake2 at over 200 Frames a second at 800x600 with 32 bit color. Even a geforce 256 can only manage an average of 52 FPS on an AMD Athlon 800Mhz. As if that wasn't enough, it plays Quake 3 at 30 FPS at 640x480, 16Bpp color and Bilinear Filtering. What an achievment. Windows has never been as quick as it is now, and color qulity and vibrance has never been better. 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 ... old mac was made in 1997 and was pretty low spec at the time. Originally it could just about handle Adobe Photoshop 4 and a couple of 2D games, oh yeah and the original Quake game. Since then I have managed to keep my trusty mac working which now boasts a much better G3 processor, a 30 gig drive and lots of RAM. Above all, the biggest improvement to this computer, which by the way has no top casing and lots of wires poking out of it, is my Voodoo5500 PCI card. I managed to by the card for about £20 from PC world because 3DFX have been brought up be Nivdea. 3dfx Voodoo4 4500 ... voodoo4 4500 is a medium range card.It is made by a trustworthy comany who have made a big name for themselves in the computer industry in a short space of time. It has 32meg of sdram which is a good standard and is enough to run most games and applications at a decent speed. It has a powerful processor so you can expect fast frame rates for the price.Combined with the 32meg of ram the voodoo4 4500 starts to look like a good quality well priced card. There wont be anymore upgrades soon because the company that manufactures them has gone out of business.So if you buy one of these dont complain when no patches or updates are released for it and you cant play y...
